Properly balance your SkyTracker Pro camera mount or other compatible mounts with this iOptron 3-Pound Counterweight. It has a 0.8" (20.5mm) center hole for the counterweight shaft, and a thumbscrew that allows the weight to be secured anywhere along the shaft's length to achieve the precise balance required for smooth tracking.

Will I need this additional counterweight to balance a 5.2lb setup on the Skyguider Pro? The tracker already comes with one, but I'm not sure if it will be enough to balance the mount.

From the photo, it looks like there is a "step" inside the counter weight hole. Is the .8" diameter measurement the wider part or the narrower part of the hole?
The image is the same image that is on the iOptron website. There is no step.
