Sennheiser ME 2-II Overview

The black Sennheiser ME 2-II is a miniature professional lavalier microphone featuring a locking 3.5mm connector for Sennheiser transmitters and engineered for reliable, interference-resistant performance with wireless systems—making it a popular choice for presentations, interviews, broadcast work, and film/video applications.

With a speech-focused frequency response from 50 Hz to 18 kHz, the ME 2-II filters out muddying lows and extreme highs to provide clear, intelligible results for instructors, journalists, and presenters in need of a solid workhorse lavalier they can depend on. The mic handles SPL levels up to 130 dB without distorting, while the omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from 360° around the capsule, helping to deliver consistent levels, even when the talent turns away from the capsule.

The ME 2-II features a 5.2’ cable that provides ample room for movement and terminates in a locking 3.5mm connector wired for Sennheiser transmitters. The electret condenser capsule requires 7.5V of power from your wireless transmitter, portable audio recorder, or similar compatible device. An integrated windscreen helps to reduce wind noise, and a lapel clip is included.

Locking 3.5mm Connector

Compatible Wireless Transmitters

  • Sennheiser: Works with Sennheiser transmitters equipped with a locking 3.5mm connector, including the following models: SK 100 G1, SK 100 G2, SK 100 G3, SK 100 G4, SK 1093, SK 20, SK 300 G1, SK 300 G2, SK 300 G3, SK 300 G4, SK 500 G1, SK 500 G2, SK 500 G3, SK 500 G4, SK AVX, SK D1, SK-XSW, SL Bodypack DW, XSW-D MINI JACK TX
  • Third-Party Devices: The ME 2-II will work with many third-party wireless transmitters and portable audio recorders that are equipped to supply 7.5V through a locking 3.5mm connector with a Sennheiser wiring configuration.

Industry-Proven Performance

Headroom for Standard Vocal Applications

The ME 2-II is designed to handle up to 130 dB SPL without distorting, providing headroom for broadcast-quality interviews, speech, and dialog.

Omnidirectional Polar Pattern

The forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from all around the mic and provides a consistent frequency response, even for off-axis sound. This helps to supply clear, intelligible speech and vocals, even when the talent isn't speaking directly toward the microphone.

Speech-Centered Frequency Response

With a frequency range from 50 Hz to 18 kHz, the ME 2-II filters out unnecessary high and low frequencies for accurate and transparent speech reproduction.

they do. I git six with the SK XSW A body pack going to the dual channel receiver I love 'em. BUT, the cord is way too long.

Wonderful Lav Mic

The wire on my 10 year old lav was frayed. This replaced it. It has a brighter sound with a little more gain. I also like the windscreen. It's an improvement.

Can't go wrong with Sennheiser.

A diferencia del modelo anterior, el anti pop ahora no puede ser quitado. Si se lo quita de todos modos, la cpsula queda expuesta. No aconsejo comprar esta versin del modelo.

Bought this as a replacement for my G4 transmitter and seems like a great quality mic. Good for interviews and the clip that comes with it is nice.

The new plastic clip is really bad

The new design (maybe a few years now) that uses a plastic clip is really bad. If you try to snap it over from the side it will break. You learn quickly to slide it on from the bottom. All good, right? No. It quickly gets so loose that it just falls off. The barrel of the mic is too small to go back to the metal clip like the old ME2. Some have even said that the windscreen is glued on. (mine wasn't) THERE is a solution. Do not buy this. We have started buying the TASCAM TM-10LB mic which is the EXACT same design as the old ME2 that everyone loved. Honestly I have compared them side by side and the Tascam IS the old ME2. They look and sound the exact same and are 50 cheaper.

A great concealer option for the Sennheiser ME 2-II Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Locking 3.5mm Connector would be the Bubblebee Industries Lav Concealer Mic Mount for Sennheiser ME 2-II (BH #BUBBILCME22B), which can be clipped, taped, or sewn onto the wardrobe worn by talent: https://bhpho.to/39p269Y

question

I need to find a mic clip replacement. But i cant find it anywhere. Do you guys sell it?
Asked by: Anonymous
After a bit of research I can suggest three options: The Sennheiser replacement is B&H # SE564565, available by special order. Because this is the same product that came with the ME2-II, it will break again.A better alternative is Auray Tie Clips B&H # AUTCOLM10. They are 1/5th the cost in a two-pack and the plastic mic clip part is much stronger. I found some in my audio kit and can confirm that they fit. The clothing clip part is metal, although it is a larger clip than what Sennheiser uses. The last option is Sennheiser MZQ 22 Double Tie Clip B&H # SE543653. Instead of clipping on the mic capsule it clips on the mic cable below and has the advantage that you could attach two microphones if you wanted to.

Can this be used with an extension cable such as the Rode VC1 to be used as a wired lav directly into a field recorder?
Asked by: Adam
The best way to connect this to you field recorder is to use the Sennheiser MZA 900 P, which will adapt the 48v Phantom Power supplied by the XLR inputs on the recorder to the 7.5v required by the ME2ii. You can then use any XLR cable to extend the distance, if desired. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387918-REG/Sennheiser_MZA900P_MZA_900_P.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/845514-REG/Kopul_m4010_Kopul_Studio_Elite_4000.html

question

Can I use this with my Canon 80D?
Asked by: Tyler
The Sennheiser ME 2-II Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone is designed to work with the SK100g3 body wireless transmitter. It requires a certain amount of voltage provided only through the transmitter. Alternatively, you may consider the Sony ECM-44B along with a Kopul LMT-100. That combination will work great with the 80D.
