Litepanels continues to expand and enhance their formidable LED line with the Astra 6X Bi-Color LED Panel, which is 6x the brightness of the original Bi-Color 1x1. The technological advancement and enhancement is evident in the high CRI and significantly increased brightness, due to the use of tightly-binned LEDs and fine-tuned TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optics, resulting in a longer throw over a wider field. As in previous versions of the 1x1 form factor, the Astra has variable tungsten to daylight color temperature with negligible color shift, 0-100% dimming.

The Astra's functions may be adjusted locally using the intuitive built-in controls, or operated remotely with one of the optional DMX512 Modules, available in XLR 5-Pin, RJ-45, or Wireless formats. Each module provides Master/Replica configuration for the control of single lights, or multiple light fixtures in a network or daisy chain. In addition, the Astra Bluetooth module provides the same kind of control of single or multiple lights from a portable device, using the free Litepanels Smartlite app download. The accessory modules slide into place on the rear of the Astra panel simply and quickly, with no wiring or complex installation required.

The Astra 6X Bi-Color comes with both US and EU power cables, plus a universal (100-240 VAC) adapter. It also operates on 13-24 VDC batteries by using V-Mount or Gold Mount battery plates, available seperately. The unique curved yoke design features a TVMP connector for hanging or stand mounting the panel almost anywhere, and two additional 1/4"-20 female taps offer alternate mounting points.

I own 4 of these and have a shoot coming up where the only power source will be my car. How can I power the Astra from the 12V cigarette lighter?
    Asked by: David
I recommend the WAGAN Pure Line 400W Power Inverter. You will have to directly connect this to your car battery but it gives you clean power that will not damage your lights. They have several versions based on how many Watts you need.

What is the comparable output at full power as compared with ARRI fresnels (ie, 1K open faced, 650w, 300w, etc)?
    Asked by: Brian
The output of these fixtures are very impressive - easily their best feature. I don't have exact photometrics but my experience (30 years of lighting for video production) tells me that one of the Astra 6x panels is comparable to an Arri 1k open-faced fixture. The only (small) issue I have with them is that they are constructed with plastic and they are not as sturdy as I had hoped. Still they are great lights and can put out a ton of light when needed.

    question

How many lumens is each light?
    Asked by: Adam
Around 7000-8500 lumens depending on the luminous efficacy of the light, which Litepanels does not publish unfortunately. They give over 100 Footcandles at 10' which is quite bright.

What is the life span of these lights? I have them in mind for some darker places where I film. They would need to run for 5-6 hours in a row.
    Asked by: Will
The life span should be years if treated gently. The runtime on AC power is endless. The runtime on batteries depends on the capacity of the batteries. Take the capacity (in WattHours) and divide by the wattage of the lights (110W) to get the runtime in hours at full power. At lower power they run longer. A big 150WattHour battery will run the light over an hour at full, and for 5 hours you'd have to run it at 30W power, or around 25% power. AC power will be more reliable in this situation.

    question

Would these be able to be fully powered at the 6X capacity with 90Wh Gold mount Anton Bauer batts or would it need higher capacity batts?
    Asked by: Gerry V.
It depends on the power (not the capacity) of your batteries. The lights draw 110W at full power. Most newer AB batteries can handle 110W, but older ones and smaller ones can not. Try to find the power specs of your lights, either in Watts, or in Amps and multiply by 14v to get Watts. (PS: VoltAmps and Watts are the same thing, so multiply Voltage times Amps to get power limit)

Are these considered spots, or floods? or do they configure as both?
    Asked by: Robert
The beam angle is 46 degrees. It is in between a spot and a flood. You can get softboxes to soften and increase the spread of the light.
