The Astra's functions may be adjusted locally using the intuitive built-in controls, or operated remotely with one of the optional DMX512 Modules, available in XLR 5-Pin, RJ-45, or Wireless formats. Each module provides Master/Replica configuration for the control of single lights, or multiple light fixtures in a network or daisy chain. In addition, the Astra Bluetooth module provides the same kind of control of single or multiple lights from a portable device, using the free LitePanels SmartLite app download. The accessory modules slide into place on the rear of the Astra panel simply and quickly, with no wiring or complex installation required.

The Astra 6X Bi-Color comes with both US and EU power cables, plus a universal (100-240 VAC) adapter. It also operates on 13-24 VDC batteries by using V-Mount or Gold Mount battery plates, available separately. The unique curved yoke design features a TVMP connector for hanging or stand mounting the panel almost anywhere, and two additional 1/4"-20 female taps offer alternate mounting points.

    Still a Great Light

I have six of these lights now. They're mostly used with their soft box and batteries. Great to always have a couple standing by on set as a floater light. They're light enough to hand hold for run-n-gun stuff and bright enough for a nice eye light during the day. Color is reasonably accurate. My one knock is that the dimmer controls have a tendency to go bad.

I love this kit. Plenty of room for accessories. It's a big pelican but it has everything you need. I highly recommend it.

    Good Go-to Light

These are good go-to lights proven to work well in all kinds of situations. We have six in our little arsenal, each ready to go with a V-mount battery plate and soft box. The color rendering is good as well. They are light and can easily be boomed out on a C-stand or menace arm for proper placement. While on battery power, these lights are very efficient with a long run time...even at full up. I often use them as a bounced source due to their high output. I highly recommend.

Everyone knows the Astra 6X is awesome: super bright, well constructed, and they make a LOT of light. And in the case, with the dinky little stands, the power supplies and cables - and the additional v-lock plates - the total weight of the thing came in at 48.2 lbs. Anyone who travels with gear knows that's a sweet number.... saves $$ on the overweight luggage charges. The pelican case custom interior design leave a bit to be desired, But it works - and honestly, there aren't a lot of options for these things to travel in, so... I'll take it. We recommend this kit.

The lights are great! The stands.... not so much.

I've been using Litepanels for years now. I've always been happy with the longevity and feature set. I also picked up the bluetooth controllers and they're great but the supporting app is garbage lol. The light stands in this particular kits are made small and lightweight to fit in the smaller case but they are as flimsy a stand as I've ever seen. Luckily I just picked up a couple of C-stands as I can't see myself using the included stands other than an emergency. They wobble, swing, and have so many pinch points they may as well be a snapping turtle. One star off for crap stands.

I own 4 of these and have a shoot coming up where the only power source will be my car. How can I power the Astra from the 12V cigarette lighter?
    Asked by: David
This light is approximately 100w. You will need to check your cars 12v port power rating. Most likely you will need a inverter connected directly to your cars battery. Make sure to check your cars batteries watt hour rating. You will want to make sure not to push it so low as to get stranded. Using a inverter that is at least double the power that you need will give you the best efficiency. For 4x Astras you would want to look at a 1k range inverter.

    question

How many lumens is each light?
    Asked by: Adam
Around 7000-8500 lumens depending on the luminous efficacy of the light, which Litepanels does not publish unfortunately. They give over 100 Footcandles at 10' which is quite bright.

Are these considered spots, or floods? or do they configure as both?
    Asked by: Robert
The beam angle is 46 degrees. It is in between a spot and a flood. You can get softboxes to soften and increase the spread of the light.

Is there enough room in the duo case to fit two snap bags? I'd like to keep everything together in one case.
    Asked by: Matthew
Yes. I have 2 stands, 2 snap grids and 2 snap bags in my case. Stands and snap grids fit in the slot. The snap bags lay flat on top. Astras need to be both LED faced towards the front latches and the AB plates pointed up. It’s a very snug fit but it works. I ended up drilling two more holes into the foam to make a total of 4 for 2 ptap XLR and 2 house power XLR.
