    Godox V860IIS Reviews

VING V860IIS TTL Li-Ion Flash Kit for Sony Cameras is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should've moved away from camera manufacturer flashes sooner Not sure why it took me so long to consider these flashes, but I'm sure glad I did! These v860II units are so quick to recycle, no more AA's (yay), and seamless with either X1T or XPRO radio triggers (unit has integrated radio receiver). And the whole kit (2 lights, radio trigger) costs way less than just the F43M and F60M lights I had before. No brainer for me to get true radio controlled OCF, and a start in the entire Godox line. I'll be looking at AD200 and AD600 as my needs grow. The only thing I gave up was the onboard video/modeling lights in the F43M and F60M, I didn't use them anyway...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great flash but The shoe sucks !!!!! The flash definitely has the power needed to excel but the build quality is so poor especially the shoe mount . I've had about 4 of this already and the shoe mount hasn't lasted more than a mount while shooting weddings . I wish the shoe mount were metal like the ones for canon and Nikon .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Second unit in less than a yea This is my second unit. I didn’t review the first but it’s good enough that I bought a second unit. The pins on the first unit broke on a recent job. Once that goes the unit was unusable. I bought the second unit because it’s relatively cheap compared to a Sony speedlite. Just hope it doesn’t break so quickly and I am more careful putting on and taking off the hot shoe. I might buy an non-lithium unit as a backup. I contacted Godox 3 weeks ago about the broken unit and got no response. It’s a great unit but beware is the weak pins on the shoe!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quite a Bargain! These flashes are an amazing deal over the SONY OEM flashes. Fast recycle time. Built-in radio master/slave mode. The spare batteries are expensive, but you could buy several of them and still be way below the cost of a flagship Sony flash. The also seem sturdy, but I have not had them long enough to give a review on it. For the price, they are NEARLY disposable. I used three of them for a recent wedding and they did not let me down. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from flash for sony Been looking for fill flash for sony and tried nissin which is smaller but it didn't compensate for close up distances. With Godox, not only does it compensate and respond to dialed in exposure, (like -1 etc), but works well with auto exposure similar to nikon system flashes. Looking forward adding remote controller and extra heads.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reasonably priced alternative to manufacturer.s unit I am a big fan of wireless TTL flashes. I am heavily into the Canon system complete with 4 600 series strobes and STE transmitter. I have been migrating over to the Sony system. Since the advent of the Canon TTL system in 2012, many other manufacturers have gotten into this technology. In doing online research, I discovered that Godox had many strobes, from shoe mount to 600w/s units, all using the same XPro transmitter. Also, this particular strobe had a large internal lithium battery. This would make an external battery unnecessary for rapid shooting. I saw this as a system I could easily add onto in the future. As for this unit, it works great, both on camera (mostly bounce flash) and with the XProS unit for the Sony. Because of my Canon experience, setup was familiar and easy. The only thing that originally tripped me up was the extra button press on the XPro to set to RADIO transmitting. My only fault with the unit is the battery door. It has a tendency to unhook when grabbing it by the sides. The battery itself is clipped in so even if the battery door completely opens the battery will not fall out. As a safety I put a piece of gaffers tape over the door.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Functional but questionable build quality I purchased one of these with the Sony trigger and found it very useful; in fact, I purchased a second and love using them. I primarily use them mounted in softboxes or with umbrella and use the Godox Bowens-mount speedlite brackets. The build quality looks poor especially the shoe mount but these brackets allow me to avoid using the shoe mount. For my use, they have worked fine; they have lots of power, recycle quickly and talk with the trigger well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still learning I have not had time to use this flash so far. But here is my observation. First, I was surprised at the size of the battery; however, I hope that will mean a long more flashes when I do use the flash. Second, he flash fits nicely on my Sony Cyber shot doc HX 400v and there is a cover for the connections at the hot shoe. I did not expect that but I am glad for it. Third, there are two diffusers built into the flash which is going to be real nice-I hope. Fourth, control buttons are good. I gave four stars since I have not actually use the flash as of yet but I expect good things out of it.

    question

I would like to buy this flash with the xPro S wireless trigger in a package to save a few dollars. Im only finding it packaged for Nikon and Canon, but not the Sony trigger? Is this available?
    Asked by: Jay
While we do have the Godox VING V860IIS TTL Li-Ion Flash with X1T-S TTL Trigger Kit for Sony Cameras, B&H # GOV860IIX1TS, we do not have a kit that would combine the Godox VING V860IIS TTL Li-Ion Flash for Sony with the Godox XProS TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Sony CamerasB&H # GOXPROS. If they are needed, they would have to be purchased separately.

    question

Will this flash work as a slave while using the Sony HVL-F45RM as a master flash on a Sony A7R3?
    Asked by: ShayP
If you are referring to using the radio transmission mode on the flashes, then no, you cannot use the Sony HVL-F45RM Wireless Radio Flash with the Godox VING V860IIS TTL Li-Ion Flash Kit for Sony Cameras. Godox's proprietary X Wireless Radio System is not compatible with Sony's proprietary radio system. However, if you use the optical wireless system in both flashes, then yes, the Sony HVL-F45RM Wireless Radio Flash may be used on the camera as a master flash to wirelessly control the Godox VING V860IIS TTL Li-Ion Flash Kit for Sony Cameras. You may view pages 38-41 of the Godox VING V860IIS TTL Li-Ion Flash Kit for Sony Cameras's instruction manual, and pages 39-41 of the Sony HVL-F45RM Wireless Radio Flash's instruction manual for the steps to activate the optical wireless mode for each flash.

    question

So if it works on the A7RII, presumably it will also work on the new A7RIII?
    Asked by: Tom W.
Yes, Sony's Multi-Interface flash accessory hot shoe on top of their cameras are all the same, so any current Sony mirrorless camera is compatible.

    question

Does it have any modeling light or LED to support focusing in low light?
    Asked by: Rudiger W.
It does not have a modeling or LED light, but it does have an AF assist beam built-in, with a range of 2 - 32.8 ft (0.61 - 10 m).

    question

Will this flash work as a slave when using the Sony HVL-F45RM as a master?
    Asked by: ShayP
If the Sony HVL-F45RM Wireless Radio Flash is used as the camera as a Commander flash in optical wireless transmission mode, then the Godox VING V860IIS TTL Li-Ion Flash can be used off-camera as an optical wireless slave flash. If you are referring to using the Sony HVL-F45RM Wireless Radio Flash as a Commander in wireless radio mode, then no, it would not be compatible. Sony's proprietary wireless radio transmission is not compatible for use with the Godox X wireless radio system used in Godox's flashes. As such, you have to use the optical wireless mode for your planned usage needs.
