Godox V860II Reviews

Exactly what I needed

This flash provides great power for prime and zoom lenses. I love that it has rechargeable batteries that last a long time. My last flash died due to AA batteries eroding inside it. This flash is a great buy for the price.

Its a flash. I paired this with my nikon d850. It has a job to do and it does it very well. Im super happy this. I first used it to photograph a bar crawl well into the evening. it produced some fantastic light. I'm really happy with it.

Very bright rating; it just arrived. One drawback is the special battery ... I'd have much preferred use of common battery. Buy a spare battery or don't buy.

Purchased the V860 to be used as a second flash for a wedding. Recycle time was very good and controls were intuitive. Used in conjunction with the Nikon remote function and the flash worked flawlessly. Longevity and reliability remains to be seen but am very happy after a few weeks of use.

Excellent Performer

I have owned many camera flash units over my 30+ years of photography, including ones five times the price of the Godox V860IIS. This unit is amongst the best and most consistent performer. I have two of these which pair with the Godox wireless controller. The system works flawlessly and reliably. The features of this flash cover practically every scenario that I use flash units for. The output range is impressive and a fully charged battery lasts for an impressively large number of discharges. Having rechargeable batteries is a huge benefit to both convenience and savings (compared to disposables).

Very light use for under two years and E1 error

Bought this flash a little less than two years ago for occasional use during exterior portrait shoots. Probably used it a dozen times (if that even). When not in use I removed the battery and always treated it gently. It worked well the few times I needed it until the other day when, after firing it off about 15 times or so, I got an E1 error which means capacitor failure so the unit can no longer fire the flash. From all I've read about that particular error it basically means the flash unit has to be replaced. Looking at the cost compared to the limited amount of use before it failed I don't really feel like it is worth the money. Maybe I got a lemon but not sure as it is the only one I have owned. I would be hesitant to invest in another one.

Good choice for me

I shoot Fuji for almost everything I would ever use a light/flash for and the remaining 1% is split between my Leica and my Z7II and Z9. This kit was purchased to enable my Nikons in a pinch and it works fine. This is my 7th V860 (2x model IIIs and 5x Model IIs) and they have all been workhorses. Great battery life, completely reliable, good power, and all the features of the high end flashes from the brand names. I have used this three times now and gotten exactly what I expected (no surprise since I can work these in my sleep). As for the trigger... well... it is a trigger. Set it correctly and it fires the lights correctly every time. I like the design of the Godox XPro triggers and bought this to replace my old Neewer N1 (made by Godox) which did not have a great design. Happy all the way around.

I just received a Nikon Z6II and this flash will not work in TTL mode. Do you know if there is an update planned?
Asked by: Mark
I returned my Godox 350N today because I spent a few day's trying to get it to work in TTL mode with my Z6 II. They do have a 1.4 firmware update which mentions fixing problems with Z6 & Z7's. My issue was that the Godox firmware upgrader is only compatable with Windows and I have Mac's. My next thought was to try the Godox V1 or 860 but I'd probably run into the same issues with upgrading firmware. I'll probably bite the bullet and pay Nikon prices and try one of their's.

Asked by: Oldrich
Godox does not list a flash duration table for the Godox VING V860IIN TTL Li-Ion Flash Kit for Nikon Cameras. The manufacturer's website simply states that the flash duration is 1/300 sec to 1/20,000 sec (which should be 1/300 sec at 1/1 full output power and 1/20,000 sec at 1/128 minimum output power).

No, Godox VING V860IIN TTL Li-Ion Flash Kit for Nikon Cameras would only perform in manual mode and the auto focus assist bean would not turn on if you attach this flash unit to Nikon Z6II mirrorless camera.

Am I reading correctly that I can use this Godox VING V860IIN TTL Li-Ion Flash on camera and have a second, and maybe third, triggered by it via rf?
Asked by: Douglas
Yes. I have two and trigger my second one via the wireless signal from the 1st. You can also use the on camera one as only the trigger instead of a separate trigger. Or use a separate trigger and fire both wirelessly.
