It can also work with an optional X series transmitter for creating more elaborate setups.
Being compatible with Sony's ADI / P-TTL system, users will enjoy numerous automated flash settings and the ability to use functions such as high-speed sync.
With a guide number of 197' at ISO 100 and 200mm the TT685S will easily illuminate most subjects. It also features a zoom head with a range of 20-200mm and a 14mm wide-angle panel for using a variety of different lenses.

Optical master/slave transmission is available for working with other standard flashes.
Using an optional FT series remote control set, users can connect to the wireless control port to gain wireless control over the flash's power settings.
A 3.5mm sync port is available for setting up a wired connection to a camera or trigger.

    Godox TT685S Reviews

TT685S Thinklite TTL Flash for Sony Cameras is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great flash! I use this flash for macro photography (with a soft box to minimize hard reflections) on a Sony mirrorless camera (Nex 6) and I am very satified. It can be moved in any direction, witht he help of a rail that lifts it up fromthe camera and has a slight angle forward I can point the flash at the area right in front of the macro lens, allowing me to take photos of objects at a distance of 2 inch before the lens. The flash always exposes perfectly (set on TTL) and I also used it as a masterto bringlight in from the side with a second (slave) flash - by the way those names are awful and should be changed - how aboutth e trigger flash and the follower, primary and secondary or whatever!in any case flash is great and recharges very quickly compared to my older flash. Beats the sony flashes big time by value for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice flash I was pretty impressed with the apparent construction. It seems to be well built. It is missing any clue as to which way the batteries need to be inserted. I took a guess, and was correct on the first try. I added a paste-on label for reference. The flash seems to work well with the camera. The TTL function and zoom communications seem to work correctly. As I have no remote flashes, I cannot comment on those features. It will take some time to familiarize myself with all the buttons. The manual seems to be reasonably written. I am happy with the flash and looking forward to using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Alternative to expensive flashes! The Godox TT685S is a no-brainer purchase compared to other high-priced brand flashes. So far, I've only used mine to learn about different techniques, but this baby hasn't let me down. It is constructed solidly and offers every feature I am looking for. I am shooting off camera, with the (very capable) Godox Xpro TTL radio remote. Perfect to get started, but I've already looked at the Godox A200 with it's rechargeable lithium battery... as an upgrade once I master the TT685S. My overall impression is that Godox is serious about quality control and delivering advanced features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Economical and reliable I use this regularly as a professional photographer, with my SONY A7 (which I bought at B&H as well). ?Very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Using Godox TT685S w/XPro-S OMG, I love using the Godox TT685S flash and XPro-S controller with my Sony A6500 and A99. Actually I purchased three TT686S units along with the Godox XPro-S controller. I can set the three flash units as TTL or Manual and individually control them (groups and channels) with the XPro-S mounted in the camera hot shoe. The technology, control and accuracy of these components blows my mind and makes complex setups simple and fun.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The base is extremely delicate I am an event photographer. Have used Canon and its camera flash for many years. Hanging from straps besides my body. Walking through dinner settings brushing and bumping. Without taking one picture, this flash hanging from my body brushed against my own pants and fell off the socket. Completely mangled the foot of the flash. Comparing to the canon flashes I notice how small and narrow the base is designed. Thank god (or jaweh) that the price is good. Loss is not the end of my world. It is the end of my flash though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value For the money this was a great option for my Sony a9. I’ve used it several times and light output is consistent through a lot of shots. Also the menues are intuitive and easy to navigate. I do not think it would work with remotes but I have a ton of other equipment and just needed it for on camera bounce flash. I have one other off brand flash a bolt and I like this better. Almost as well as my Nikon flash units. Was cheap and performs better than expected. Their is no diffusion cap but I’ve never used those much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Bargain I have Nikon and Sony cameras. I have always used Nikon external flashes, but when my SB800 broke, I turned to Godox to save some significant money. I am very pleased with it. Can't see any difference in performance from the SB800. So much so, that when I decided to buy and external flash for my Sony RX10iii, I looked no further than Godox. We'll see how they hold up over time, but from what I've read, they will be fine.
