Absolutely great lens. While it may not be as fancy as the new Sony pancakes, this lens takes incredible pictures. The auto-focus is fast and sharp and I have had no issues with it so far.

question
What is the throw of the focus ring from infinity to minimum focus distance? And does the lens focus linearly without any acceleration?
The lens station has an adjustment for this.

question
Will like Rokinon use the lens hood that fit over a 49mm filter? I prefer not to use a 40.5mm filter attached to the front of the hood.
It is a weird setup with the lens hood and then having to buy a 40.5mm filter. But...It could have been designed this way because the lens has such a low-profile. The hood that comes with the lens is so compact there is no chance that the hood will be picked up in the photo. On that level, the hood works because it minimizes space and the form fits the lens well. If you took off the hood the came with the lens, put on a new filter and then put a new hood on the lens, you run the risk of having the hood getting picked up on the edges of the photo. The new hood may not fit in the lens case Rokinon supplies with the lens. Food for thought.

question
Does this lens work with eye-AF on sony a7rii ?
Not sure about A7RII, but eye AF works just like native Sony lenses on my A7III. If you are having issues, make sure you have a newer firmware on the lens.

question
what kind of manual focus ring does it have? by wire? or is it mechanical?

question
Anyone use this with a first gen Sony A7? How is AF? I don't mind a little slow as long as it doesn't hunt around a lot.
I have just started to use this lens on my Sony a7r2. I went on a road trip recently shooting landscapes and had no problem with auto focus. I also tried some test shots in low light and it focused fine. It's not blazing fast but also not really slow...in between and adequate. Nice lens for the price. I'm happy so far. I shoot professionally
