Godox AD600BM Reviews

Poor Handle Adjustment

By Joseph

The unit is generally well-built and delivers excellent light. My biggest gripe is that the adjusting handle apparently has a large sawtooth inside it, so holds firmly only in very discrete increments, while other Godox lights have a continuous adjustment. This difference makes it trickier than I expected to accurately point the light. The Godox remote control interface is also not particularly intuitive.

Doesn't have a 5/8" Pin

Amazing light. This is a really great kit, but you can't mount the strobe to the boom arm that ships with the c stand. You'll need to buy a separate pin to hold in the grip head. However, you can mount the strobe to the c-stand centre pole.

modeling light is on 10 watts

This light is what I wanted, but I overlooked the fact it only has a 10 watt modeling LED in it. Unless you are in total darkness, the modeling light is invisible when used in a light box or with any modifier. The light works fine, but don't buy it if you need modeling light previewing.

Plenty of power

I use this light for real estate photography. I was going to go with a smaller less powerful light but I decide to go for this one. I'm glad I did.. it has plenty of power for even the largest sized rooms but it can be powered way down for a small bathroom or kitchen. It is heavier than other small lights but it's not that bad and it's portable enough that I never use a stand, I just hold it up. The larger size also means that the battery lasts longer - especially when using lower output. It's a good light and it never gave me any issues in over a year of using it.

Good range of power

Previously, I was using Yongnuo speed lights. I like to balance the duration of a charge with the power consumption. With this strobe, I can keep the power down, maximizing the battery life, while also getting the results I want! I use it indoor and am excited to test this on some outdoor shoots!

I know have 2 Godox AD600 lights and really live them. They work flawlessly with the on-camera Godox trigger. The other day I was shooting a big group from atop a tall ladder and was adjusting light intensity from there very easily. Really enjoying working with these. Using one with a soft box makes for really nice portrait light.

Can i use the Godox X1T on a sony A7RII for trigger instead of the TTL Trigger? I like to keep it simple. Im not a camera pro.
Asked by: James
The X1T-S for Sony is a TTL trigger like the XPRO-S, just with smaller display and less groups at your disposal. You would be forced to use manual flash control of the AD600BM since there are no TTL functions on it.

Can i use pocket wizards to trigger the flash?
Asked by: James
As the Godox AD600BM Witstro Manual All-In-One Outdoor Flash has a 1/8" (3.5 mm) sync port on the bottom of the light fixture, yes, you may connect a PocketWizard transceiver to the light fixture via a PocketWizard MM1 Miniphone to Miniphone Cable -12", B&H # POCMM16. However, do note you will only have manual control and will need to set the output on the light fixture itself. You would not be able to adjust the output wirelessly using a PocketWizard remote.
