    GVB Gear RPAD 450 reviews

Rpad-450 Super Soft 18" Circular Bi-Color LED Light (Dual NP-F Type Battery Mount) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from beautiful lighting from this LED light I purchased two units so that I could get away from my two flash set up used in medical photography mainly, some portraits. The two units produce beautiful, even, diffuse light, perfect for portraits and medical photography, with some caveats. Overall, very robust build. The front feels like it is a glass lens covering the leds, and appears strong. The back is hard plastic. I haven't used the batteries, but will get some in future. There is a plastic knob to lock in the angle of the light. This knob feels inadequate, as the light is substantial in weight. The motion of this joint is knurled, or clicking and the knob locks in the teeth in quantum steps. I feel a bit insecure with this, so I always double check that it is tight before I take hands off. I would recommend a sturdy light stand and placing the light directly over a leg to ensure stability, especially when aiming the light downward (increased torque). I am a bit disappointed in the light output, and will likely get a third light in the future. In the mean time. I will use my diffused flash for fill. Note that I am using f5 or smaller aperture, iso 400. The light output is adjustable via a dimmer and this works fine. The color is also adjustable via a rotating knob. There is no lcd to indicate the color temperature (K) and the transition is a bit clunky. Therefore, it is hard to tell, and it is very unlikely that the lamps are putting out the exact same temperature light. The only other thing that is a small thing, is that the cord leading from the power brick could be longer. Overall, I like the lights a lot. There are some things that I don't like as above, however, for the price, this is a good value, and I think they will hold up for the long haul in studio. Scott
