Characterized by apt focusing speed and image stabilization, the Canon EF-mount SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 from Tamron is a revised fast standard zoom covering a versatile wide-angle to portrait-length range. A sophisticated optical design with two extra refractive elements, three low dispersion elements, three glass-molded aspherical elements, and one hybrid aspherical element helps to suppress aberrations and distortion throughout the zoom range while eBAND and BBAR coatings have been applied to individual elements to control lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity. Balancing its optical attributes, this lens also utilizes a USM autofocus motor to deliver notably quick, quiet, and precise focusing performance that suits both stills and video applications. Also, 5-stop-effective Vibration Compensation helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting in difficult lighting conditions. Additionally, the lens is moisture-resistant and has a fluorine coating on the front element to enable its use in trying environmental conditions.

Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2 Reviews
Great Lens at a Bargain price
Great walk around lens. Excellent build and handles well. Professional grade lens at a bargain price. Has become a permanent fixture on my Nikon D750.
Does Not Hold Up
I've had this lens for six years now, and it has needed to be repaired three times now. The lens loses sharpness quickly if not in a studio setting on a tripod, and even after I paid to have Tamron service mine, the sharpness goes in and out. Recently, the inner glass focusing piece completely came lose inside the lens during a wedding, which I have never had happen to any lenses in my career. When I sent it in, Tamron refused to cover it under their warranty because they found shock damage, despite it not being dropped since 2020 when I paid for another service repair when it came off the camera mount (despite having clicked when it was put on). I've spent more on repairs than I paid for the lens initially in 2018. I've had better luck with the Sigma and Canon 24-70mm versions.
Compleates my range of views
I am very pleased with this lens. Responds well and is fast and accurate
Beware of used stuff!
I purchased this lens to be used on my Z6 camera (via FTZ adapter). Trying to save some money, I choose the used one, which B&H described as 9+ (very little or no wear) condition. Upon arriving I made a dozen of test shots and found all of them really noisy. The further investigation revealed the lens increases ISO almost twice. To separate the camera and adapter, I put everything on tripod, switch camera to full manual, then shot with Tamron, and Sigma 24-70/2.8 (F mount) lens (both with adapter). All photos taken with used Tamron were significantly darker. Looks like, for some unknown reason, used Tamron lens sends to camera wrong data about diaphragm opening. Unfortunately, the B&H response was offensively unfair. Even when I ship (for my expenses) that lens back in 2 hours, they deducted 13% from refund. For the mistake they caused. To me, who used to be their loyal customer for 12 years... Beware of used stuff!
Very sharp and very heavy
Great lens but hadn't realized how heavy it is. Works great, very sharp.
My favorite new lens
This is my favorite lens to use now! I shoot a lot of car shows and this lens is perfect for getting close but wide enough to get the whole car without looking like a fisheye lens. It has excellent bokeh for close-up shots of hood ornaments and emblems. It is wide enough that I can sit in the seat and get shots of the entire dash and zoom in close to get one individual gauge. It's perfectly versatile for what I need!
Intermediate Level User
I've only used it for about a thousand shots and as a hobbyist with intermediate level equipment I'm satisfied up to this point.
Low Light Phenomenon
Recently I was asked to shoot a week of Vacation Bible School at my church. Many areas do not have enough light to shoot at a reasonable ISO. This lens helped tremendously even though I still had to clean up noise in post, but I did not have to lug a tripod up and down stairs all day! In decent light, this lens is phenomenal!
