    Swann Pro Series reviews

Pro Series 8-Channel 5MP DVR with 2TB HDD and 8 5MP Outdoor Bullet Cameras is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Video/Easy Setup I purchased this Swann Pro Series to replace a Zosi Wireless Security Camera System (which I returned). While setting up a wired (BNC) system took more work, the crisp realtime video is worth the effort. I find the video during the day time is very crisp and being able to zoom in is very nice and it shows with the 5MP Cameras. The one area I am a tad bit disappointed in is the IR LED night vision. While the IR LED works well to light up the area up to 100', it's really lights up the center, but doesn't do as well on the outer edges and honestly the video looks a bit pixelated. I have tried making adjustments, but it's about as good as it is going to get. The DVR was easy to setup and of course just scan the code on the DVR and bam the HomeSafe View connects with no issue. I did make some tweaks to some of the settings in terms of increasing output because I have a really super fast internet connection. One other negative I have with the cameras are the tiny allen keys to adjust the view, what a pain in the butt that is. But it seems Swann on the new 4K camera actually went to a better setup. I really like this 5 MP Camera System (its a good value with high quality video, but much less expensive than the 4K which was too pricey for me) I highly recommend it! B&H took my order overnight and shipped it the next day, so great customer service from them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pretty good Our third Swann system. Got tired of the 720p cams. they worked well but the clarity was not very good. Got the 8 cam 5MP system with True Detect IR. In North Dakota, the snow sets off the motion. The True Detect is not supposed to be set off by snow, but it does. So I took off one star for that. The clarity is far better than the 720p system, the software is pretty good and the cams are working in -30 temps. So I am currently happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good It's a decent purchase. System does not come with a user manual you must download from internet. Cheat sheet that does come with system has the smallest writing its insane. Old people beware. My 1 camera wire is over 160ft and it gets lines at night so I plan to shorten line. First attempt was a purchase of a small booster on am!zon and it was a used item (unknowingly). Didn't solve issue anyway. Planning to just run the 100ft cable in hopes that stops the lines. I'm happy with the system and if you read reviews other places on this product the noise complaints are silly. They do hum and if it bothers you, you have other issues. Biggest problem was this taking almost 2 weeks to receive. Its 2017 so nothing should take so long. 4 stars due to a slow delivery.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for daytime use but.... This system is amazing for day use. The video feed is razor sharp with great color if that is all you are looking for. However, several other issues exist. Night brings a very grainy image and the IR lighting is way to bright in the center washing out any detail. There also seems to be a very long lag time after a camera triggers and starts recording. If I walk to the front door with the setting at 6, I'm already inside before the recording starts. The other issue is you can not go beyond 120 foot cable or the night vision flickers. And with the 200 foot cable, the night vision will not even turn on even with the power adapter powering only that one camera. After calling Swann 3 times and speaking with a Level 1, 2, & 3 Tech and 4 hours total running tests for them, they told me "Well the system is really not designed to go over 100 feet". So why are they selling the 200 foot cable? Like I said, for daytime use this system is truly amazing but that is where it ends. As for B&H, their folks in Customer Service and the Surveillance Dept were great as always!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stand alone system I did not need anything networked or fancy, just a camera system that will alert me when something enters the perimeter and record the alert. Running wires (instead of something wireless) take install time, but once set up there are no signal quality issues to worry about. Outstanding video quality and after a couple of nights learning the software I'm really impressed. I noticed that the turret cameras struggle with focus in the 10 to 15 foot range, but still clear enough- just not perfect. I'm very glad I went with the 5MP quality. I'm sure lower MP rated units will be obsolete shortly as technology continues to advance. The DVR that the cameras connect to is really a computer that is running software ... very user friendly after spending some time poking around in all the options. Only four cameras can record audio, and you have to provide your own CCTV 12volt microphones. These are readily available and very inexpensive from any security type place on the internet or eBay. If you purchase BNC female to RCA male adapters (2 per microphone), you can use any spare Swann camera cables you may end up with for the microphones - works great. This is my first security system with cameras and I think I would have been disappointed with 1080p or lower MP units. The 5MP is that awesome. For the additional dollars, buying the 8 camera unit is well worth it compared to the four if all yours will be bullet cameras. Thumbs up to this unit!
