question

What hardware is required to upgrade to 6TB? How much does it cost?
Asked by: David
All you will need is a 3.5 Hard Drive. You will open the unit and remove the old drive and install the new one. I would also recommend keeping the old drive so if there is a need for the manufacturer's warranty, it can be returned. You can find recommendations for drives:<a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1356843-REG/wd_wd60purz_purple_6tb_surveillance_hard.html target= _blank >https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1356843-REG/wd_wd60purz_purple_6tb_surveillance_hard.html</a><a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1345918-REG/seagate_st6000dma04_barracuda_pro_6tb_3_5.html target= _blank >https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1345918-REG/seagate_st6000dma04_barracuda_pro_6tb_3_5.html</a>

question

Is there a limit to the length of the video cables?
Asked by: David
Yes, the length of cable that the cameras come with is the longest you can go with the power supply that is provided. If you need to go further lengths, you can change out the cable and go longer runs but you will need a different power supply for that camera as well.

question

For connectivity, in addition to the BNC video cable, Is the power a separate cable that needs to be run to each camera and powered separately than the DVR?
Asked by: Michael F.
The power required for each camera is in the connecting cable for each camera. You just run the one cable to each camera and there are 2 included power adapters that each supply 4 cameras, so 2 adapters will power a total of 8 cameras. This system is a very easy hookup. One connector of each camera connects to the DVR and the power adapter plugs in near the DVR and powers the cameras. I have 6 of my 8 cameras hooked up to far (2 to go). I am very happy with this system.

question

Do the cameras record in color?
Asked by: David
During the day, the cameras will be in color. At night, since light has gone down, Infrared lights will turn on and the camera image will turn to black and white.
