I should have bought this years ago. I bought this item to take vertical photos reading that it helps keep the camera balanced. Wow! Vertical photos as well as horizontal photos have improved. It just balances out the camera. Having a second battery is nice. However I just keep a spare in my camera bag anyway.

If you buy Canon cameras for their light-weightedness, be advised that this grip will add heft to your camera. This Grip is convenient and easy to use, and its functions are very versatile. I like to use when I am out for a long time, and will be taking a large amount of photos. I enjoy being free battery usage concerns.I bought one additional battery to use for shorter day-trips, and so that I may still use my camera while the other two are recharging.

I've been using this for a month now and I'm glad I bought it. I have big hands and the extra size this gives makes it so much easier to get a comfortable grip. The buttons and dials when in portrait are amazing as well, so convenient. Thank you B&H for such great service.

No. The camera cannot power the flash. There are external battery supplies which can power this flash, if the internal AA replaceable batteries are not sufficient.
