Samsung SmartCam overview

  • 1Description

The Samsung SmartCam HD Plus Wi-Fi Camera is a multi-featured and easy-to-use home (or office) monitoring camera. Connect it to your network over Wi-Fi and have a live view of your home right on your phone using a complementary SmartCam iOS/Android app (free download). The camera can be used neatly set on a shelf or stand, or mounted on a wall using included screws.

Monitor and/or record everything in an ultra-wide, 130° field of view in crisp, Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. Moreover, featuring a built-in microphone and speaker, the SmartCam HD Plus allows for two-way communication, so you can speak into your phone, and your child, guest, or whoever's home can hear you and respond back.

Other features include motion and audio detection, which allow you to set the camera to alert you by push and email notifications when sensing unusual movement or noise in the home. You can also select up to three zones that you want to be alerted about. If, for example, you know there's going to be activity in the house but want to be alerted if anyone approaches the windows, you simply need to draw a square around the window area in the SmartCam app. An unlimited number of users can have access to the camera live view via the app, with up to five users at the same time in Unicast mode. The camera has four streaming profiles, meaning that there are four different access levels (administrator, IT, etc.) for all the users.

The SmartCam HD Plus offers three recording options and features an SD card slot supporting up to 128GB cards (available separately). You can manually set it to record at any time and for any length, set it to record continuously, or have it record motion-detected events for up to 30 seconds, and all these adjustments can be made right from your phone, so you don't have to be near the camera.

If you're not home to turn the lights on when nighttime comes, the SmartCam's IR LEDs installed around the lens will activate and provide up to 33' of night vision, and you'll be able to see everything in a black-and-white image even in complete darkness. There are also two other features that contribute to better image capture. Wide Dynamic Range compensates for backlight conditions, and Samsung Light Enhancer illuminates dark areas in its field of vision while maintaining the quality of the brighter areas.

The SmartCam HD Plus is also SmartCloud compatible.
