Ruggard EDC-120L Overview

  • 1Description

Protect your lenses, photographic and optical equipment, mobile electronics, and other valuable accessories from excessive moisture, dirt, and dust with the Ruggard 120L Electronic Dry Cabinet. The cabinet's fast-acting TE Cooling Wafer regulates the interior's relative humidity from 35-60% to help prevent fungus and corrosion that can damage your gear. Humidity adjustments take place over a 1- to 3-hour period.

Fully-featured, the cabinet has a lockable, rubber-sealed glass door, with two keys, and a front metal handle. A large, dimmable LCD displays ambient temperature (in Fahrenheit or Celsius), relative humidity, and other settings. Interior LED lights make viewing and finding gear easier, and both the base and the five adjustable plastic shelves are padded to help guard against scratches.

The Electronic Dry Cabinet is powered by an included multi-voltage power supply. In addition to being near silent, without a fan or compressor to make noise, the unit is also dripless, eliminating the need for a water tray. To prevent unwanted movement, the bottom of the cabinet has four rubber feet and two are leveling feet for installing on uneven surfaces.

    Ruggard EDC-120L Reviews

Electronic Dry Cabinet (120L) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great way to store your gear Living in New England, we tend to go from very dry to very humid throughout the year and often within a single day!? I wanted somewhere that I could store my gear that was easily accessible yet provided protection from the humidity.? I found it with the Ruggard Dry Cabinet.? It is well constructed and absolutely silent.? I often forget it's even there until I see the faint glow from it's temperature readout.? I love the fact that the trays slide out so I can access all my gear easily.? However, my only gripe is that I wish the trays felt more substantial.? They are a very lightweight plastic and don't have the greatest sliding mechanism.? They just feel flimsy, especially with the weight of my heavy lens on them.? Aside from that, I love this product and wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone that keeps glass and important electronic equipment in humid conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for protecting valuable equipment. Got this cabinet on sale, great value. Unit has easy adjusting leveling feet (did not need um but nice to have). Shelf liners are a nice touch. Instructions and keys are under top shelf liner (look their first). Instructions are easy to follow and unit is easy to set up). Also like the interior light that I can turn on and off. Make sure to be quick when putting away are taking out equipment as the moisture can build quickly inside the cabinet (but no worries as the unit will quickly get it out). The cabinet is nicely constructed and the glass door is quality built and closes easily. You will find this unit a welcome addition in protecting your valuable investment. The unit maintains the moisture level you set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent way to store equipment Easy to fit lots of equipment inside and the slide-out trays make it easy to organize things and access them. Solid build and looks nice, highly recommended for organizing equipment. The only problem I had with the cabinet is that it only has one lens shaped foam insert, and the grooves for lenses are relatively close together, not allowing many wider lenses to sit in neighboring grooves. Ideal would probably be one insert with 4 grooves like is included and one with 3 wider grooves for larger lenses. My only other suggestion would be some way to charge a laptop or battery inside the cabinet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, Love, Love this cabinet I bought two of these Ruggard dry cabinets to store all of my equipment.  I probably could have just bought one of the larger models but with free shipping on this size I figured this was the right choice.  Now one houses all my canon dslr equipment and the other houses my medium format gear.  Living in southeast Texas where humidity levels are constantly in the 70% range, these cabinets are a great addition to my studio to keep all of my equipment safe from the elements.  Quiet, easy to use and they can store a ton of gear.  Still not a huge fan of plastic shelves and brackets without any kind of stops but know that going in and you shouldnt have any problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CONSOLADATED MY GEAR Easy to set up. Looks great and did just exactly what I needed. Does not take up much room in my study and now I finally know where everything is and I can lock the door. It even has lights inside. Temp. and humidity lights on the front look cool. I highly recommended it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Storage solution... Would you like a vintage? That's the current joke among my friends when I acquired this cabinet. It's able to fit all of my lenses, cameras and the (DJI Mavic Pro) and still leaving enough space for more! The foam insert for the lens drawer, the top one, seems to have problems accommodating lenses with a diameter larger than 85mm, so it's going to be quite a squeeze fitting the others, with the Nikkor 200-500 5.6 also. It's easy to configure, and very quiet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy set up The cabinet arrived well protected with styrofoam cushioning inside a thick cardboard box with surrounding wood crating. The shelves were in place and padding was already on the shelves. It was easy to set up. The front two feet are screw down to keep it from rocking. It plugged in and turned on immediately. As has been stated by others, the shelves are plastic and feel cheap. They work and when pulled out they remain in place supporting the equipment. There’s no fancy slides and rollers like a kitchen drawer. We’ll see how they last, long term. The 120L cabinet is large enough for my lenses, cameras and flash. It allows me to organize and consolidate things. Overall, I’m glad I purchased it. It should protect my gear during the muggy summer months.

Does the 120 l unit come with wheels/casters? And if not, is it possible to add them (preferably easily)? I am physically disabled, so I probably could not move it to its final location without either wheels or casters, that is why I ask.
    Asked by: G. Adam
It comes with rubber bottomed pads on the four corners with the two front pads being adjustable for leveling purposes. Warranty states any modification would void your warranty.

    question

Is there a way to calibrate the humidity and/or temperature settings on the display? I have used a digital thermometer humidity gauge and an alcohol thermometer to check both: the humidity setting appears to be -5% off (35% instead of 40%, the recommended setting for lenses) and the temp is +3 F off. Too much of a +/- error for my taste.
    Asked by: Ralf K.
I did not see any calibration instructions in the manual. The temperature in my house is 76 degrees on my thermostat and a digital thermometer. The display on my cabinet says 78 degrees and I have the AC vent closed to that room so I would expect a 2 degree difference. I have my cabinet set at 35% humidity. I live in Minnesota so it's not like our weather is wet like in Florida or dry as in Arizona. However, over the last week we had dewpoints in the high 70's and temps in the 94+ range so it's been tropical to say the least. I use my cabinet for humidity control and for storage as a clean room and only take out the gear I need rather than keeping everything in my bag. If you are sure your testing devices are accurate you can simply make the conversion and set the cabinet accordingly. The price is right for this cabinet.

    question

For 120L unit, how long is the power chord? Do the shelves slide out or are fixed?
    Asked by: Anonymous
The shelves do slide out which makes it easy to find stored cameras and lenses. I cannot get to the power cord to measure, sorry.
