Ideal for general solar viewing and for enjoying all phases of a partial solar eclipse, the Explore Scientific Sun Catcher 50mm f/7 Refractor White-Light Solar Telescope employs a permanently-installed ISO-certified solar filter to protect eyes from the intense visible light and harmful ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) radiation emitted from the sun. Its folding tabletop tripod and compact mount makes it easy to pack and transport, and fast and convenient to set up virtually anywhere there's a flat surface. To enjoy views of the sun Explore Scientific includes two that provide 18x and 29x magnification along with a 90° diagonal to place the user's head in a more comfortable viewing position.

    Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gotto modify tripod shoe . The telescope itself actually very good . BUT! ...the problem is - the table tripod is soooo wobbly , there is NO CHANCE for you to keep sun in a eyepiece for more than couple seconds with this set up . The only remedy - to modify telescopes tripod shoe . So DIY , its not very easy , but doable . In a process , you got to cut off some plastic from the shoe . If you are not lazy - you ll have very nice small cheap solar telescope ready to fit on any standard photo or astro tripod . Good luck .
