Yongnuo YN968N overview

  • 1Description

Light your scene in almost any way you can imagine with the versatile triggering options and features of the YN968N TTL Speedlite from Yongnuo. With a rated guide number of 197' at ISO 100 and 105mm, the YN968N is a powerful unit which features Nikon i-TTL support for on-camera use, including high-speed sync. Expanding the functionality, however, is the implementation of both a 2.4GHz radio system for master and slave operation alongside optical TTL slave support for both Nikon and Canon systems. The radio function supports Yongnuo's YN622N (master/slave) and YN560 (slave) systems which ensures maximum compatibility with existing units and equipment.

In terms of more general lighting settings, the flash offers users a zoom range of 20-105mm, and has a pull-out diffusion panel for ultra-wide 14mm optics. Users can also tilt the flash from -7 to 150° and rotate it 360° for easy positioning and bounce operation. For video, an LED light with power control options is built into the YN968N as well, which has a diffuser panel and comes with a color conversion filter to match the scene. The flash runs on four AA batteries and will recycle in just three seconds at full power. Additionally, it has 1st and 2nd curtain sync as well as high-speed sync and features PC sync, HV power, and micro-USB ports for expanded operation and functionality.

    Yongnuo YN968N reviews

YN968N TTL Speedlite for Nikon Cameras is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Flash Units For about the price of one SB5000, I bought 4 of these plus a 622N that I use in different configurations depending on the situation. Usually, the 622N is on-camera and 3 flashes are on stands with umbrellas or in modifiers. In cases where on-camera flash with a diffuser is desired, the 968 can also act as the master for triggering additional units. The LED light is handy on occasion. The triggering has been rock-solid, build quality is excellent and for the price, although I haven't needed it, I can always have a spare in the bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A budget gadget for a wedding photographer Look no further...if you want a quick and dirty highest quality budget Speedlight; Yongnuo YN968N can delivered as good as Nikon SB910 with a useful remote access to all the YN600 remote/flash series. This is the best tool ever that Yongnuo produced in the decade. I would recommended to anyone that looking to save some money....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of options that need to be explored I added this to our camera bag after a simple flash died a premature death (lasted only about 18 months). It is a very nice flash, feels solid. But there are a lot of options and modes that I still need to figure out. Added to the camera and was it works great. I did notice that the unit does not automatically zoom (on default settings), which I was slightly disappointed about (hence 4 stars). I only have one flash, so could not test the radio features to link multiple flashes. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value for the money Previously I was using Nikon speed lights and needed to consider a replacement. Due to budget considerations, I opted to try the Yongnuo YN968N TTL which is fraction of the cost of a Nikon with similar guide numbers and features except for Nikon's cooling feature. The Yongnuo is a solidly built unit, and although I have not tried all options such as strobe or back curtain, it has performed well including manual and TTL settings

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fitting for the price Purchased the speedlite to be used as a second flash. I have the Yongnuo 622N and this flash works well with it. Quality is good but you can feel a difference when compared to my Nikon speedlite. Great value for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pro experience at amateur price Well built and dependable flash gives opportunity to exercise new lighting options for a fraction of brand name equipment price. When attached to my Nikon D90 hot shoe it automatically adjusts to current zoom position of the lens. On remote basis I was only able to test it as optical slave also with good results. Overall, the sync with my camera is not always flawless, but I can't compare it to other brands because it is my first advanced flash.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deal for the price I purchased two to supplement my Nikon SB-900. I use the two in a Westcott 43" Apollo Orb mounted on an Impact FA-330L Adjustable Locking Triple Flash Adapter with Umbrella Socket (using two of the three positions). All together they work well - I trigger them with the Yongnuo YN-622N Transveiver & TX Controller kit (which I trigger the SB-900 (used as fill) with as well. Getting everything to play together was a challenge but the Yongnuo components works seamlessly together. The menu system is not intuitive. And if you are setting up more than one flash - do the same actions on each simultaneously to ensure consistency. I found that running everything in manual (and shooting tethered to preview shots) works best. From the camera mounted controller - you can easily adjust power. In the future I might just buy a third (or more) to replace the SB-900 for simplicity and seamless operation. The built in LED lights I most likely won't use within the Apollo Orb - but for the few extra dollars, I don't mind them there for future applications.
