The Ultra Plate Camera Support also has three countersunk holes to drive nails into a wooden surface and permanently attach the platform for special applications. Additionally, there are three open spaces that the included carabiner can clip into for attaching to a belt or bag. Another means of carrying the Ultra is by running an accessory belt or backpack strap through the slotted belt loops. Meanwhile, the slotted belt loops can also accommodate the 20" cinch strap, so it can attach onto a tree or pole and shoot from an elevated height.

I use both the MAX and the Ultra. While your setup will work with the Ultra, I would recommend the Max for better, more stable support. In either case, make sure you are stabilized in such a way that the unit does not wobble or tip over.

Regarding the spikes: what if you want to use the spikes on a surface likely to be scratched? Do the spikes come with rubber tips for protection? If not, what do you suggest to keep tips from scratching? Thanks.
Asked by: Joan
Yes there are rubber tips and the spikes are reversible - can be used rubber or pointed metal side down
