Sharp Images and Text
The BenQ HT1070A is designed to produce crisply defined sharpness for clear details and legible text by maximizing the fill ratio of individual pixels and employing SmartEco technology.

    BenQ HT1070A reviews

HT1070A Full HD DLP Home Theater Projector is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent 1080P Projector Picture quality on this projector is fantastic. The black levels seem to be that of a normal projector but will never match Oled TV or Pioneer Plasma TVs (No projector can, not even at a professional movie theater). The fan noise is pretty quiet and acceptable. The speakers built into the projector can barely be heard at all so make sure to use a sound system with this projector. Overall this is a great projector and has an almost identical picture to the HT2050A. So if picture quality is what you are looking for save the money and go for this projector. I only gave it four stars because of the lack of usb input, no lens cap, and weak speakers built in. If they would have added all of that into this model I would give it 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality for the bucks! I was looking for a entry level home theater. After research I found this product matches what I need. Offer full HD with 3D function. It would be nicer if HT1070A can have a full size USB port to power Google Chromecast. So I used my power adapter to use Google Chromecast and it worked really well. I also hooked an karaoke device with this home theater. The experience is to the next level comparing to a standard TV. Highly recommend this projector if you never have one before.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid performance at entry level price Being new to projectors, it's not always easy to tell good performance from bad - especially if there's not a considered side by side evaluation. I can say that my reaction to the ease of use, quality of picture and price were immediately positive. In a hurry to test, I streamed Netflix from my iPhone to an old AppleTV at 1280x720 (not quite 1920x1080) and was quite impressed. The switchable viewing modes gave you a quick idea of the range of adjustments (though 'Bright' mode was green-ish). If it's a cost thing, charge $20 more and provide the following items - backlit remote, dust cap and a better speaker - didn't know they could make them that weak! Overall, a solid performer and / or 'gateway' 1080p projector for the masses.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Beware - Audio out is useless First, I've had a BenQ HT1075 projector for a few years and love it. The 1075 is permanently mounted in my study as a home theater. I recently decided to buy the HT1070A, as a second unit that would be portable enough to use in my living room and elsewhere. The 1070A seems about the same as my 1075 as far as picture quality, but it falls far short when it comes to audio. The purpose of buying this unit, was to place it on the coffee table and attach my DVD player to it. The DVD player can receive Netflix, etc wirelessly. Or attach my laptop as a program source. As you should know, the built in speakers on any of these devices are not great audio, but in the case of the 1070A it is essentially non-existent. Some reviewers on other sites, actually think there isn't a built in speaker. There is a speaker, but it is so faint, even when the volumes of both the projector and the source are turned all the way up. You can barely hear a faint scratchy sound and can't make out what is being said or heard. I was not planning to use the speaker (but it would be nice if you wanted to use the projector in a conference room setting or someone's house so that it could be heard). My plan was to use the audio out jack instead, to hear the audio. But the audio out jack is driven by the same inadequate circuitry that the speaker is driven from. I first tried different pairs of ear buds, and they were either very faint or no sound at all. My Bose noise cancelling headset worked but not very loud. I also have a wireless Sennheiser transmitter with "amplified headset" and although that worked, the sound was not the normal volume you would expect, again maximizing the volume from the souce(DVD player), the 1070A and the amplified headset all the way up. The same problem is true even when I attached the audio out to my home receiver/amplifier that is a very powerful system. Weak volume. If you plan to use this projector by first attaching the HDMI output of your source directly to a modern home sound system that has HDMI inputs, and that in turn sends the video signal to the projector, then it should work fine, because the audio is being first picked up by your home sound system. But in my case, the living room has an older amplifier/receiver and does not support HDMI inputs. If that is your case, you will have the same problem with sound. Today's DVD players seem to only have one HDMI output and no longer are built with separate audio outputs, so that doesn't give you an option as to where to feed your audio. Likewise, using a laptop, once you connect the HDMI output to the projector, the audio out on the laptop is disabled. This whole issue seemed like a defect, so I returned the unit for a replacement. The replacement has the same problem. Reading more reviews on other sites, as there were no reviews on the B&H site, others pointed out that the speaker is very weak. That is an understatement. You easily get more volume out of tiny little MP3 players, or cell phones or tablets. No kidding. BenQ states that the speaker is 2Watts. After trying to figure out why this isn't a problem on my existing 1075 unit, I found the spec for that is 10 Watts. but even 2 Watts should drive ear buds or amplified systems. If your old enough to remember crystal radios and carbon headsets, this is about what you can hear out of this unit. It's so bad, one has to wonder if this is a design defect. Does BenQ even know how bad this is? Also beware of other models that state only 2 Watts output for the speaker, it is likely the same circuitry with the same problem. Could the designers mistaken the 2 Watt spec for .2 or 1/2 watt. One has to wonder?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good projector for the price. I would give this projector 5 stars, but it has one notable flaw. Rainbows are visible during some scenes. They aren't too distracting, and they are infrequent, but they're there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Projector I am happy with the clarity of the picture given the price point. Obviously the speaker is lacking but I will set it up with a separate audio system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good budget projector We bought the projector to replace an older one from ~5 years ago. The projector has good contrast and sharp colors. It's definitely an upgrade compared to our previous one. The only issue I've seen is that at large screen sizes, there is some noticeable barrel distortion- the image shape appears curved around the edges. I'm not sure whether there's a possible adjustment in the projector menu. The menu isn't the easiest to navigate around with....
