Designed to improve astrophotographic images through their 80mm Series 6000 apochromatic refractor OTAs, the Meade Instruments Series 6000 0.8x Focal Reducer/Field Flattener serves two purposes: to widen the overall field of view and correct spherical aberration (distortion).

The focal reducer portion shortens the focal length which widens the field of view, allowing larger deep-sky objects and constellations to be fully realized in the images. Complementing this, the fully multi-coated 3-element flattener improves the sharpness - especially at the edges - to ensure you are able to resolve stars to clear pinpoints. This accessory comes with a 10mm spacer if additional room is needed for the light to hit camera sensor correctly, a 2" nose-piece to fit larger drawtubes and visual backs, and M42x0.75 threads that accept standard optional camera-specific T-rings for attaching to your DSLR body.
