PTZOptics PT20X-NDI Reviews
Smoooooth
This camera has a very smooth Zoom, Pan and Tilt mechanism. It is compatible with NDI (one interesting note is you can control the camera using NDI Studio Monitor). The NDI Studio Monitor gives you controls as part of the feed from the camera. You just use your mouse to control all the functions. It even had preset buttons as part of the control from NDI. I also hooked up this camera to a POE switch and it works like a champ.
Won't recommend purchasing to any church
I read the reviews, spoke with numerous churches that have purchased one 20x-NDI and the 30x with disappointing results. We have Cat6e cabling, no longer than a 50ft run to either camera and the picture quality is not HD quality as advertised. we have the correct cabling, POe, software technologies and the results week after week are the same frustrations with poor quality video streaming with high speed internet to Facebook 720p HD.
An amazing solution for streaming
The new covid reality required the installation of streaming gear in our sanctuary. This camera has by far exceeded my expectations and made my job SO much easier... The pre-sets that can be operated from remote control were super easy to set/adjust/operate and created a much more professional feel to our stream, as I was able to pan and zoom to different parts of the sanctuary with ease.
Fantastic Camera!
Installed 2 of these at our church for our live streaming webcast. The color is so beautiful and they were so easy to set-up. They make the old camera that we still have in use look poor. Looks like I will be installing a third camera before much longer. Thanks B&H for the great response in acquiring these for us.
Okay, 4.5 starts
Beautiful picture. Easy setup, except for the instruction Manual discussed nest. Easy to use. I can see why this is in such high demand. But the instructions for getting a network IP address were just wrong. Wrong title, had to guess at what the download link was. The examples were hard to follow and ultimately we had to get our tech expert in to set things up. But once set up, what a dream machine.
Fantastic Camera - But Know What You're Getting Into
I like everything about this camera, with the possible exception of the software. If you have a Crestron controller, or similar, and understand how to write the control code, this is a fantastic camera. The included software, while functional, is really lacking. Getting the NDI working was fairly straightforward, and it's very nice to finally have a PoE camera! But this is not a consumer camera, this is a professional camera, and the software tool kit supplied reflects that.
Works as advertised, some caveats
We use this camera as an upgrade from a Webcam for executive conference calls. It provided the improved picture quality and works as advertised. And we specifically picked this one since we're relaying on NDI HX for the feed, not video connection. But the setup took quite a while to work out network settings, etc. Not a plug and play camera. You'll need a SDI or HDMI monitor during setup to see settings before you can connect. The other concern is the color rendition of the camera. It took a lot of time to find a pleasing skin tone and avoid color casts. And that is with proper video lighting in place. It has a lot of settings for color and image settings, but they're quirky and not as useful as you might think. For our next camera we might opt for a real video camera primary because of the color issues.
Almost perfect
We have been using the 30x via cat6 for live stream at church and video quality is amazing. It does take some time to setup at first if you have unifi Network system running at church. The only issue I have is that when you zoom in full , you can see the the edges blur out just a bit, other than that seems to be good, I'll be buying the 20x and a z-cam soon.
