The white 20X-NDI Broadcast and Conference Camera from PTZOptics provides automated camera control and high-resolution video output on a variety of networks and location setups. It is ideal for streaming applications, houses of worship, sports streaming, live productions and events, and whenever you only have a single operator and/or multiple cable runs might be an issue.
I/O Options
The camera allows you to output up to a 1080p60 signal simultaneously via HDMI, 3G-SDI, and NDI|HX / IP outputs. The camera also has a composite output that can be used on its own to deliver 576i/480i SD resolution. An analog stereo audio line input provides audio embedding into HDMI and NDI/IP streams.
The 20X-NDI comes with a NewTek NDI license, so you're set to go right out of the box. The NDI protocol, NewTek's innovative IP technology, gives you low-latency access to audio and video devices anywhere on your network for various A/V applications. You won't be restricted to sources connected directly to a single system.
Professional Optics
The 20X-NDI has a 4.4 to 88.5mm lens providing a 20x zoom range, which is ideal for smaller meeting rooms and classrooms or wide shots in larger spaces. The camera does well in low-light conditions owing to a fast f/1.8 to 2.8 lens aperture and a minimum illumination requirement of only 0.5 lux. A built-in wide dynamic range and 2D and 3D noise reduction further enhance the conferencing experience.
Hardware Control Options
The 20X-NDI can be powered over PoE or using the included power supply. It offers RS-232 and RS-485 serial control and 10 presets via the included IR remote control or 255 via serial or IP control. PTZOptics offers hardware joystick controllers such as the IP joystick, serial joystick, or the SuperJoy.
Streaming Options
The camera offers H.264, H.265, and MJPEG streaming over an RJ45 port and also features SRT support to send high-quality, low-latency videos securely over the Internet. The NDI cameras can also live stream directly to content-delivery networks such as Facebook and YouTube.
IP Control
Use PTZ controls built-in to your favorite video production software such as OBS, Livestream Studio, Wirecast, vMix, mimoLive, or Tricaster. There is also free IP control application for macOS or Windows, open-source control software on GitHub, the PTZOptics OBS plugin, or even mobile device control options on smartphones. The camera is completely open-source, so developers can customize everything, as they prefer using a simple web interface.

PTZOptics PT20X-NDI Reviews

This camera has a very smooth Zoom, Pan and Tilt mechanism. It is compatible with NDI (one interesting note is you can control the camera using NDI Studio Monitor). The NDI Studio Monitor gives you controls as part of the feed from the camera. You just use your mouse to control all the functions. It even had preset buttons as part of the control from NDI. I also hooked up this camera to a POE switch and it works like a champ.

Won't recommend purchasing to any church

I read the reviews, spoke with numerous churches that have purchased one 20x-NDI and the 30x with disappointing results. We have Cat6e cabling, no longer than a 50ft run to either camera and the picture quality is not HD quality as advertised. we have the correct cabling, POe, software technologies and the results week after week are the same frustrations with poor quality video streaming with high speed internet to Facebook 720p HD.

An amazing solution for streaming

The new covid reality required the installation of streaming gear in our sanctuary. This camera has by far exceeded my expectations and made my job SO much easier... The pre-sets that can be operated from remote control were super easy to set/adjust/operate and created a much more professional feel to our stream, as I was able to pan and zoom to different parts of the sanctuary with ease.

Fantastic Camera!

Installed 2 of these at our church for our live streaming webcast. The color is so beautiful and they were so easy to set-up. They make the old camera that we still have in use look poor. Looks like I will be installing a third camera before much longer. Thanks B&H for the great response in acquiring these for us.

Beautiful picture. Easy setup, except for the instruction Manual discussed nest. Easy to use. I can see why this is in such high demand. But the instructions for getting a network IP address were just wrong. Wrong title, had to guess at what the download link was. The examples were hard to follow and ultimately we had to get our tech expert in to set things up. But once set up, what a dream machine.

Fantastic Camera - But Know What You're Getting Into

I like everything about this camera, with the possible exception of the software. If you have a Crestron controller, or similar, and understand how to write the control code, this is a fantastic camera. The included software, while functional, is really lacking. Getting the NDI working was fairly straightforward, and it's very nice to finally have a PoE camera! But this is not a consumer camera, this is a professional camera, and the software tool kit supplied reflects that.

Works as advertised, some caveats

We use this camera as an upgrade from a Webcam for executive conference calls. It provided the improved picture quality and works as advertised. And we specifically picked this one since we're relaying on NDI HX for the feed, not video connection. But the setup took quite a while to work out network settings, etc. Not a plug and play camera. You'll need a SDI or HDMI monitor during setup to see settings before you can connect. The other concern is the color rendition of the camera. It took a lot of time to find a pleasing skin tone and avoid color casts. And that is with proper video lighting in place. It has a lot of settings for color and image settings, but they're quirky and not as useful as you might think. For our next camera we might opt for a real video camera primary because of the color issues.

Almost perfect

We have been using the 30x via cat6 for live stream at church and video quality is amazing. It does take some time to setup at first if you have unifi Network system running at church. The only issue I have is that when you zoom in full , you can see the the edges blur out just a bit, other than that seems to be good, I'll be buying the 20x and a z-cam soon.

PoE is not working. Does this camera require a Texas WiFi adapter for Power over Ethernet? Does PoE need to be enabled in some fashion?
Asked by: Daniel
This could be a number of reasons. The cameras use 802.3af type PoE and would require a 48 V source. Also, if you are using a PoE switch you have to make sure it has the right power specs.

Does this works with Wirecast? How do we control the PTZ, does it comes with a software? and controllable all in one Ethernet Cable (Control PTZ and Video Feed)
Yes, the latest version of Wirecast does support NDI. Once you connect this camera to your network through an Ethernet Cable it will send the video feed and allow you to control the camera through IP. You will be able to also connect the PTZOptics IP Joystick GEN2 to your network, once you have this you will be able to control the camera. There are also software and app options available from PTZ Optics directly.

I have conflicting answers to this question. Is a Magewell video capture card, either USB or HDMI required to capture video from this camera when using NDI/IP when both the camera and the PC are connected to an ethernet switch? Will it carry both the video and audio signals over ethernet (IP)? I am using OBS with the PTZ Optics plugin for OBS to control the camera.
Asked by: Daniel
If you were using HDMI or the SDI as your video signal, yes, you would need an encoder. However, if used as an IP camera there is no need for the encoder. Both video and audio will be carried over the Ethernet network.
