Gator GRW-RACKRAIL-10U Reviews
Awful Quality Control
I recently installed these on two custom built equipment rack pods. Both sets of these rails are under broke. (they should form a perfect 90 degree angle when properly manufactured.) Instead, when bolting equipment into the racks, one side of the equipment has to be drawn down to the opposite rail because of the improper angle. I can't imagine a more simple piece of hardware to produce and quality check than this, but my troubles weren't over.... Only 2 (out of a possible 80!) screw holes came properly threaded and worked with the Gatorworks rack screws I tried to use. The rest of the screws won't tighten all the way because the threads in the holes are defective. (yes, I tried another box of screws, but that didn't help.) I don't blame BH. They're a good company. Gator, on the other hand...
the description (at the time of purchase [I do not know if a correction has been applied]) notes the gauge of the metal as 16. nonetheless I ordered them on the assumption that the dimension as described was an error. upon receipt, I was content to find that the gauge is approximately 11, which is the common gauge for rackmount rack rails. what proved compelling was the superior finish (important to me as I am mounting these inside a custom car). the numbering on the face of the rails is also a nice complement to aesthetics.
