Glyph Technologies A2000SLV-ENT overview

  • 1Description

The silver 2TB Atom USB 3.1 Type-C External SSD from Glyph Technologies comes built with a 2TB M.2 SSD and a USB 3.1 connection with 10 Gb/s speeds to quickly store your content from a Mac or Windows system. This connection features a USB Type-C interface, which sports a small and reversible design, and is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.0 devices. Once connected, the Atom transfers data at a rate of up to 480 MB/s.

The Atom is preformatted for HFS+ with Journaling and compatible with Time Machine, letting it work right out of the box with a Mac. Reformatting is required for use with a Windows system. With a lightweight and rugged design, the Atom is well suited for the rigors of daily travel. For compatibility with a wide range of USB products, Glyph includes a cable for directly connecting the Atom to USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3 systems along with a second cable that creates a connection with computers having a standard USB Type-A port.

    Glyph Technologies A2000SLV-ENT reviews

2TB Atom USB 3.1 Type-C External SSD (Silver) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive but top-notch product Bus powered, fast, small, silent, two included connection cables (USB 3 and USB-C). My only gripe, the cables need to be a bit longer for most uses. Formatted into two partitions, #1Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for iMac Time Machine backups and #2, APFS for SuperDuper backups of the same SSD iMac. I passed on the RAID version of this Glyph SSD for a couple reasons...slightly lower reliability for a two-drive RAID 0 configuration and second, this late 2015 iMac only has USB 3 and Thunderbolt 2 ports so the incredible860MB/s write speed of the more expensive Glyph RAID version could never be used anyway. Besides, the conventional wisdom is "RAID is not a smart backup."

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Frustrating to format for Widows I've used this product for a couple of weeks. First of all I love its speed and portability. I am a photographer and this is what I was looking for in size, weight, and speed for backing up photos in the field. How well it will last over the long haul is yet to be seen. The only reason I have given it four stars is because of the very frustrating process one has to go through to make the drive compatible with Windows 10. I had to down load instructions from the Glyph on how to do it and those were not exactly user friendly. Why this company doesn't sell a model formatted for Windows and another one for Apple beats me. It could be a deciding factor for some who want to plug and play.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Second One I was very happy with the first one of these hard drive that I purchased a second.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic It's a bit pricey, but the time saved it's worth the money. This drive is very small and very fast. I was downloading footage and it was 5m compared to 29m with a Regular USB3 drive.
