Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for casual video editor I am no electronic expert and when researching external drives, but after spending a few hours researching the glyph drives I was sold. Compared to other brands, the price and features cant be beat with this 4TB Blackbox Pro. I am using this drive as a time machine backup as well as for limitied video editing in an everyday business environment. I may be different from most users in that I don't have this drive powered on unless I am editing or I want to backup my macbook pro. I don't need to have a backup done multiple times a day or even daily (I use dropbox), so i fire it up twice a week and run a backup. After working with this drive for a couple weeks I have zero complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Construction I like So far very impressed. I favor quality construction over looks and this drive does not disappoint. It's heavy enough I'm not concerned about accidentally knocking it off the table. It comes with all the cables you need and well packaged. I'm using a PC Workstation with USB-3.0. I immediately backed up about a terabyte of data almost non-stop. The drive was quick and responsive. It was reasonably quiet and became a little warm but nothing alarming. I've since backed up more data no problem. Another nice feature is the on-off switch. When finished with backups I eject drive from Windows taskbar and turn it off. When ready to use again simply turn switch on and Windows 10 finds it immediately. I will purchase another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent overall quality Extremely heavy duty build quality. Excellent construction, fit, finish and packaging. Professional in all aspects. Did not realize these are made and assembled in the USA but you can tell when you look at it. Excellent performance thus far connected to an iMac Pro via USB-C. Utilized for TM backup. Drive noise is noticeable but reasonable. Power switch is a nice feature. If overall reliability is as good as build quality then these drives are outstanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast of a RAID. Very quiet. So far, very impressed. The case and build is VERY solid. The unit is extremely quiet, especially for running 2 internal disks. But then Glyphs are made to be used in a recording studio environment. You can't beat the warranty and service on the unit either. It was very easy to change from Raid 0, which it was factory set at, to Raid 1, which is 4gb of space and a mirrored instant 4gb mirror or back up. You definitely get what you pay for.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very Loud Drive This drive is fast and so far dependable, but I rate it lower because it is by far the loudest external drive I have ever owned. Fine for back up storage (assuming you don't mind the noise). I bought this for use as an external drive for use with Pro Tools, but will be shifting it to back up duty on another system and looking elsewhere for a audio-recording-friendly drive. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good Easy to set up on MacBook and easy to use (click and drag). My call to the company prior to purchase worked out well-Easy to talk with and gave great advice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big, portable, fast. Pick three. First-rate external hard disk. AC powered, USB 2/3 or C interface. Better design, materials, and construction than you would get with a USB SATA enclosure. Auto-mounted and instantly ready for use on my Linux Mint PC, but I don't own any Apple devices so I reformatted for compatibility with my other equipment.
