General Features

Capacity

The My Book Duo drive provides 12TB of storage capacity with a single connection. This amount of digital storage space lets you hold and back up your photos, videos, documents, and songs.

RAID 0

The My Book Duo is preconfigured in a RAID 0 array that grants maximum speed and capacity. Utilizing the included WD Drive Utilities software, you can reconfigure the drives in a RAID 1 for redundancy or JBOD array as two independent drives.

WD Red Drives

Two WD Red drives are included to provide high-speed and reliable storage. To help ensure read/write cycle data integrity, RAID-optimized firmware is suitable for a two-disk array system with auto management of drive operations.

Compatibility

With the included USB Type-C to Type-C and USB Type-C to Type-A cables, the My Book Duo supports a wide-variety of systems.

Two-Port USB 3.0 Hub

The My Book Duo drive can serve as a quasi-docking station with two USB 3.0 Type-A ports designed for accessories, such as an additional storage device, keyboard and mouse set, card reader, and mobile devices.

Encryption

The My Book Duo drive comes with 256-bit AES hardware encryption with WD Security software built in to help keep private content secure. You can set a personalized password to activate hardware encryption and data protection.

The drives are replaced by WD within the Limited 3-Year Warranty. Otherwise, you can use any RAID compatible drive that is 5400 RPM.

Can you access this drive from 2 computers at the same time?
Asked by: Zakari
This drive can be shared by more than one computer if it is plugged into and part of a Local Area Network (LAN). So, if this is connected to your network, you can have access with more than one computer at a time. Otherwise, using a cable you can only have access to one computer at a time.

question

I would buy this WD MY Book except for the propriety encryption. It is just what I am looking for. Can this Duo be backed up to another non-encrypted drive or does the encryption prevent this ??
Asked by: Gary S.
I have the same concern. The WD web site states Set a personalized password to activate hardware encryption and data protection. which implies that it would be off until activated but I would still test it by pulling a drive and sticking it in another enclosure to see if it can be read.

question

can i edit 4k raw dng straight of the drive?
Asked by: Taras
RAW files are very large and intensive to deal with when editing. While this is a great product, it is only rated at USB 3.0, not USB 3.1, for speed. A G-Raid with Thunderbolt 3/USB 3.1 speeds would be a better choice, B&H # GT0G05753, while an option like the Glyph Technologies Atom RAID which uses Solid State Drives would be an even better choice, B&H # GLAR2000GR.https://bhpho.to/2rm2m3dhttps://bhpho.to/2rlzO9U
