Like the nice solid build. Got a head to go with it. Fingers crossed for using it in places where tripods are not allowed.

Sometimes flat and low to the ground is a Good Thing

I do a lot of work in hardwood floored gymnasiums where tripods/monopods are not permitted --and getting low angled perspectives is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE --for us full figured guys.  The Platypod is the PERFECT solution.  I used the thing the day after it arrived --SWEET! The Platypod comes with the strap and legs to make the simple platform adapt in hundreds of applications.  Money Well Spent!

I highly recommended this kit for dealing with low situations. I also like its small size and weight.

Always in my bag.

Weighs nothing, yet sturdy and totally awesome for the wide-angle ground shots. Mostly use with my Z6, occasionally with the D850 with smaller lenses - up to the 24-70 f/2.8.

How Did I Ever Do Without This

Not much can go wrong with it. It's small, solid, and stable. It weighs almost nothing, so there's no problem carrying it around all day. It allows me to get my camera right down on the floor for some very interesting shots. Not even my smallest tripod will do that. I didn't know I needed one of these until I saw it on Kelbyone. Now I wonder how I ever got a long without it.

I want to mount a clamp directly to this, i.e. no ball head. Does the 3/8" stud rotate so I can orient the clamp to any direction?
Asked by: John
No, the stud is solid in place.

question

I am an amateur astronomer with many years of experience. I plan to mount my 10 pound astronomy binoculars 20x80 on a Manfrotto counterbalanced nitrogen fluid Head. I think this Will be adequate for my purposes. For my limited uses, is there any reason why I should buy a Platypod camera support? From the material presented about the Platypod I do not believe there is any compelling reason to acquire a Platypod. Please let me know if there is some advantage that I am overlooking. With appreciation for any help you may be able to offer,JP Smith

I bought one and have only used it once. Thought I would use to place camera on ground for wider angle shots of nightskies but I never have

question

Is the Ultra stable enough to support a D750 with a 24-120mm lens ?
Asked by: Joe B.
I have used a Canon 5DSR Camera with 100-400mm lens without problems. You need a sturdy tripod head. That is the weakest link.
