Levenhuk Sherman overview

  • 1Description

With an impressive eye relief and high magnification, the Levenhuk 16x50 Sherman Binocular is great for long-distance glassing in the field from dawn to dusk. Utilizing a more traditional BAK4 Porro design that presents views with a rich depth of field, and anti-reflection multi-coated optics to maximize light transmission, it delivers clear high-contrast images with accurate color rendition across the entire field of view. The long eye relief makes looking through the Sherman comfortable during extended glassing sessions.

Owing to the high power and large objectives, holding binoculars of this size can cause fatigue and accentuate the appearance of visible hand shake. It's for this reason that Levenhuk made the Sherman tripod mountable with an optional adapter for hands-free use. For fast glassing on the go, or when tripods are impracticable, the Porro prism design creates natural positions for the hands which are accentuated with textured palm pads and finger ridges on the rubberized armor to offer a more secure grip. Its optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes. Finally, a ribbed and textured center focusing wheel, a ±4 dioptric correction range, and fold-down rubber eyecups ensure precise focusing and eye relief for just about any user regardless of most individual eye prescriptions.

Optical Performance
  • Powerful 16x magnification allows for detailed observations of distant objects
  • Large 50mm objective lenses gather generous amounts of light to boost low-light performance
  • Traditional Porro prism optical path helps to maintain a rich depth of field versus comparable roof prisms
  • BAK4 prisms deliver a round exit pupil, and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Anti-reflection multi-coated optics produce accurate color fidelity and improve contrast and image brightness
  • 141-foot field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
  • Large ribbed and slip-resistant center focusing wheel is easy to manipulate, even when wearing gloves
  • ±4 right eye dioptric correction range for precise focus adjustment to most user's individual prescription
  • 70-80mm interpupillary distance adjustment range
  • Fold-down rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • Tripod mountable with optional adapter, which reduces arm fatigue, and eliminates hand-shake and other vibrations
  • Long 20mm eye relief reduces eye strain and makes long-duration glassing sessions comfortable
  • 3.1mm exit pupil
