Ready for Intel X-Series processors, the Republic of Gamers Rampage VI Apex LGA 2066 Extended ATX Motherboard from ASUS has been tailored by ROG engineers and tuned by overclockers. It has been built to break performance records and features a 4-DIMM memory trace layout, dual DIMM.2 modules to help keep your M.2 SSDs cool, and an X-shaped PCB that is accented with Aura RGB lighting. The Rampage VI Apex supports the LGA 2066 socket, Intel X299 chipset, and is compatible with Windows 10 (64-bit). Also supported is USB 3.1 Type-A and Type-C, each of which can achieve data transfer rates of up to 10 Gb/s.

The Extended ATX (EATX) form factor of the Republic of Gamers Rampage VI Apex can support up to 64GB of RAM over four DIMM slots that can each hold 16GB of DDR4 4133, (OC), 4000 (OC), 3866 (OC), 3600 (OC), 3333 (OC), 3300 (OC), 3200 (OC), 3000 (OC), 2800 (OC), 2600 (OC), 2400, and 2133 MHz non-ECC unbuffered memory when equipped with a six-core or above processor. When outfitted with a quad-core processor, it can support up to 32GB of RAM over two DIMM slots that each support 16GB of 4500 (OC), 4266 (OC), 4133, (OC), 4000 (OC), 3866 (OC), 3600 (OC), 3333 (OC), 3300 (OC), 3200 (OC), 3000 (OC), 2800 (OC), 2666 (OC), 2400, and 2133 MHz non-ECC unbuffered memory.

The Republic of Gamers Rampage VI Apex has a total of 2 x ROG DIMM.2 slots that support a total of four M.2 SSDs. While three of the slots only support PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs, the fourth supports both SATA and PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 SSDs. There is also 1 x USB 3.1 Type-C port, 1 x USB 3.1 Type-A port, 6 x USB 3.0 Type-A ports, 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A ports, and two PS/2 ports, all located at the rear, as well as 4 x USB 3.0 ports and 3 x USB 2.0 ports, all located at mid-board, plus one front panel USB 3.1 connector. Other features include 1 x Intel I219V Gigabit LAN port, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.2. For those looking to expand their system using PCIe, there are 4 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and 1 x PCIe 3.0 x4 slot.

The Republic of Gamers Rampage VI Apex does not contain any support for integrated graphics, meaning that users will need to purchase a compatible and dedicated GPU of their choice. Once that GPU is installed, multi-GPU output is supported, with NVIDIA Quad-GPU SLI, 4-Way SLI, 3-Way SLI, and 2-Way SLI, as well as AMD Quad-GPU CrossFireX, 4-Way CrossFireX, 3-Way CrossFireX, and 2-Way CrossFireX technologies.

Using the ROG SupremeFX 8-Channel HD S1220A audio codec, the Rampage VI Apex can support 120 dB SNR stereo playback output and 113 dB SNR input. Audio can be output using the five 3.5mm audio jacks or one S/PDIF jack. Included is an I/O shield, four SATA III 6 Gb/s cables, four M.2 screws, a Wi-Fi antenna, an R6A MOS fan bracket pack, two ROG DIMM.2 fan stand packs, a 3-way SLI bridge, a 4-way SLI bridge, an SLI HB bridge, an ROG big sticker, a Q-connector, a 10-in-1 ROG cable label, and an ROG coaster. Protection is provided by a limited 3-year warranty.

General Features

Go Beyond
The Rampage VI Apex is built to take your processor and components further than previously possible. With its optimized layout, high-quality components, and its ability to withstand the rigors of sub-zero operation with liquid-nitrogen (LN2) and helium (LHe), the Apex has achieved an overclocked CPU frequency for Intel Core i7 at 7.562 GHz with four cores and eight threads. That's a 75.87% overclock of the chip's default 4.3 GHz frequency.
Overclocker's Toolkit - Hardware Controls
The Rampage VI Apex includes an overclocker's toolkit with hardware-level controls to aid your overclocking experience. The motherboard's dual BIOS allows you to experiment with different firmware versions and provides a path for recovery in case one becomes corrupt, and the onboard switch allows you to change between the first and second BIOS. The overclocker's toolkit also includes a "pause" switch to halt the system and four PCIe switches for quick slot toggling. Other tools include Safe Boot and ReTry buttons, an LN2 jumper to aid POST at sub-zero temperatures, and a "slow mode" switch.

LN2 Mode Jumper
Enables special options and functions for liquid nitrogen (LN2) overclocking.

Condensation Detection
Specialized circuitry allows the Rampage VI Apex to detect when condensation occurs on the back of the board. Divided into four distinct sections - CPU, DRAM_L, DRAM_R, and PCIe - the feature provides a useful warning when an area may be at risk of short-circuiting.
Optimized Trace Layout
It's the engineering that makes the Rampage VI Apex such a big performer. Allotting just one DIMM slot per channel allowed their engineers to create shorter trace distances, which in turn means tighter control over impedance and the reduced possibility for signal interference. ASUS also adopted an engineering-first strategy, paring back the number of integrated circuits to enable the better trace routing. The end result is a motherboard with better stability and more overclocking headroom, allowing you to get the improved performance from your memory kit.
DDR4 Overclocking
ROG engineers adopted a four-slot memory design on an EATX motherboard, enabling a highly optimized layout for memory trace paths to help minimize noise and improve signal integrity. The Rampage VI Apex allows for DDR4 overclocking to reach up to 4500+ MHz in dual-channel mode, and 4133 MHz+ with 4 DIMMs in quad-channel mode. ROG also works with virtually all the major DDR4 memory vendors to ensure the better compatibility and real-word performance.
ASU Pro Clock II Technology with Extreme Engine Digi+
A dedicated base-clock generator that extends CPU and memory overclocking margins. This custom solution works in tandem with the TPU to help enhance voltage and overclocking control, providing the flexibility to extract more performance from Intel Core X-series processors. The Rampage VI Apex also includes Extreme Engine Digi+ - ROG's digital power controller. With a Digi+ PWM controller, PowlRstage IR3555 MOSFETs, MicroFine alloy chokes, and 10K black metallic capacitors, Extreme Engine Digi+ technology delivers consistently stable power.


The Rampage VI Apex includes two ROG DIMM.2 modules to support a total of four PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 SSDs. ROG DIMM.2 supports a wide variety of existing memory coolers, and the Rampage VI Apex comes with two fan mounts that support up to two 50mm fans or a single 80mm fan, making it easier to cool your M.2 drives. Each module features a pair of onboard thermal sensor headers for temperature reporting, allowing control over fan speed and acoustics via Fan Xpert 4 software, or the ASUS UEFI. As a finishing touch, the modules have onboard RGB LEDs that are controllable via ASUS' Aura software, adding options to accent your build with a range of lighting effects.
Use the CPU_DIMM.2 expansion card to take advantage of Intel's Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) feature by connecting two M.2 drives in RAID. Or, maximize storage performance with the addition of an ASUS Hyper M.2 X16 Card for up to four PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 drives and total bandwidth of up to 128 Gb/s. With VROC, your RAID arrays are configured to be bootable, and traditional DMI bottlenecks are eliminated so your storage is not held back by other traffic.
Wired directly to the X299 PCH, the PCH_DIMM.2 module can be installed to enable chipset-based RAID configurations to improve storage performance or provide a layer of redundancy.
VRM and I/O Heatsink
The high-core-count Intel Core i7 and i9 CPUs consume greater amounts of power, so the Rampage VI Apex is equipped with improved VRM cooling. Featuring a high-mass, finned heatsink that connects to the I/O cover via heat pipe, the expansive surface area dissipates heat efficiently. And, for enthusiasts that want to push the platform to its limit, ASUS has even included a bracket that allows you to mount a fan to accelerate the airflow.
ROG Watercooling Zone
This lets you monitor your system with dual temperature headers and a flow-rate header that feed information straight into the AI Suite utility, allowing you to not only keep track of coolant temperatures, but also the flow rate of the entire loop.
Intel Optane Memory
Intel Optane memory is a non-volatile memory technology supported by the Rampage VI Apex. Offering accelerated data transfer speeds, Optane memory modules can be used to augment traditional mechanical hard drives to improve storage performance.
