Nikon MB-D18 Reviews
Have to have it.
If you don't understand why you need this, then you probably need alot more photography training and being out there.
Does the job as advertised
I have ordered and used the Nikon battery packs on every Nikon body I've owned. They always work well and stand up t whatever I throw at it. The build is solid.
Excellent grip for the D850
Outstanding grip for the Nikon D850 - it fits perfectly and really helps with vertical shots. While it is relatively expensive, the quality is the highest possible.
Supercharged my D850
Love this Battery Pack! Now I'm able to shoot at 9fps, get 2X [or more] shots between recharging. The main & sub-command dials, AE/AF lock & Shutter release are so convenient while shooting in vertical orientation, especially when shooting fast action. All of this using the EN-EL 15b Battery.
Must have accessory!
Having the MB-D18 battery pack allows you to extend your grip, and use the optional BL-5 battery chamber cover with the EN-EL18c Lith-Ion battery. Having this trio along with a fast XQD memory card will allow your D850 to scream at 9fps! Highly recommend!
Get a grip
If you shoot a lot of portraits like we do at our studio, you owe it to yourself to get a grip. A plus is it gives you an extra battery.
Instructions exclude the on/off switch
I got my battery pack and hooked it up with a battery only to have a problem getting the unit to work. After looking through the huge instruction sheet I found nothing telling me how to get it to work and finally tossed the instructions away and found the on/off switch! Please Nikon, put that first in your instructions!!!
Most rugged & dependable option is built by the camera maker
Yes, it's way more expensive than the aftermarket manufacturers and there's partly a good reason. Nikon makes larger profits off their accessories than the camera bodies. Always has. When it comes to a device you mount to that body you paid a great deal of money for and has data interaction with it you do want the best build and most reliable gear you can get. With a D850 you want this battery pack. Hands down built way better with an engineering understanding of the interactions involved, in both electronics and mechanical-structural, than any clone out there.
