Garbage monitor - incompatible with M1. DO NOT BUY.

This product is 100% incompatible with M1 and Viewsonic refuses to put that as a disclaimer on its pages. I use it connected to my M1 Max Macbook Pro and it flickers uncontrollably or ghosts images. I initially thought I got a bummer unit but after spending 2 months in an RMA process, my new unit is doing the same thing. The Viewsonic reps, while nice people, have been completely unhelpful in helping me get a permanent solution so now I'm stuck with this incompatible monitor because NOWHERE does it say incompatible with M1 - they even acknowledge that it is due to not working with the M1 hardware. I'm a video freelancer and this monitor has been such a headache for me. I sincerely regret buying it. Garbage.

Genius hardware calibratable monitor for the price

I use it as a second monitor away from my studio. I feel confident with my color corrections. I will note that there are now more approved colorimeters than just the one paired with the monitor. The colorboration software allows you to correct for uneven color across the monitor which is very helpful.

What a difference!

This monitor is exactly what I needed in my graphic design work. Text is clear, colors are accurate and there is plenty of screen real estate for using programs like InDesign and Lightroom. For the last few years I've been trying to do design work on my MacBook Pro, built-in display. I'm so glad I finally bought an external display--it has made my workflow so much more efficient. Originally, I ordered the 2K BenQ270c but for some unknown reason (to BenQ and all others I asked) the text was terribly jagged and vector graphics in Illustrator were pixelated. If knew I kept that monitor I was going to have some major eye-strain and would have difficulty doing my job. How can I work with text if everything looks wrong? Did I get a lemon, have a MacBook Pro issue, or was 2K just not enough pixels--I'll never know! Thanks to the great customer service from B&H I was able to return the BenQ and buy the ViewSonic 2785-4K instead, which made all the difference. I had read that 4K monitors caused menu items to be too small to read, and that the extra pixels were unnecessary but that is not the case for me at all. I plugged in the USB-C cable and it immediately displayed at a perfect screen resolution for comfortable reading. My advice to graphic designers is to get a 4K monitor. Your eyes will thank you. I definitely recommend this ViewSonic 2785 4K if color accuracy is important to your job. The Adobe RGB space is perfect for the print work I do. I love this monitor for photo-editing, creating vector artwork and for layout/text work. Some reviewers mentioned that the documentation that comes in the box is not easy to understand, but I found a nice manual online that explained everything in sufficient detail. There are a lot of optional settings on this monitor which I find is a great plus. I wish I had bought this sooner!

Image Retention / Image Sticking

Its screen is reflective than an Eizo CG monitor, and the viewing angle is much narrower. To see the right color, you have to sit right across it. Unfortunately, it has the worst technical service that no one knows anything about, and the worst is that if a photo stays longer than 3-5 minutes on the screen, it leaves a mark like a burn. The trace is visible, especially in dark gray areas for a temporary period. But very uncomfortable for people dealing with color grading and retouching. The tech's suggestion is: not to use wallpaper and to keep the screen saver open as much as possible.

The monitor has a great build quality, and some strong color accuracy. It does have a vastly profile presets, but is very odd and confusing on the OSD to choose. It does support hardware calibration Keep in mind that once you set the 3 different hardware calibration slots, you would not be able to set the brightness nor the contrast after that. You would have to switch profile to user mode. You would not be able to turn on the blue light low mode on hardware calibration either, and this monitor have a very strong blue light. I guess that for the price is not bad at all. I think that the monitor is more for pro experience people that really have the time to spent trying to figure the sweet spot. It takes a lot of testing triggering around to set the monitor. I returned my unit and going for appropriate to my experience and skill set, even if I have to pay more.

Great Monitor For Photographers

By Leonard

I don't know about video editing, but this is a great monitor for photo editing. It has a 14 bit LUT which means I can calibrate using my i1 Display Pro for hardware calibration vs just software calibration. This means my color profile is internal to the monitor hardware and not the computer software. It covers close to 100% ARGB which is the color space I shoot and edit in. The detail I see in photos is much greater than what I saw in my previous monitor. You can't beat the 4K. And if I decide to take a break I can watch a movie in 4K video. Look, compared to higher end monitors, you can't beat the price on this. Lower priced monitors don't have internal LUTs. In my opinion this monitor falls between those and the higher end models costing twice as much and sometimes 3 times as much. This is not an entry level monitor for photographers but it is definitely a pro monitor at a very reasonable price.

Hardware Calibration Software does not work with M1 Macs.

I have been using this monitor for over a year. I am an engineer and a creative using this monitor in a dual boot Windows and Mac configuration. The bulk of my engineering work is performed in Windows while all of my creative works are performed on an M1 MacBook Pro. The monitor works flawlessly with Windows. However, I perform all of my creative work on my M1 MacBook Pro. The Calibration + software which is used to perform hardware calibrations STILL, after 9 months, does not run on M1 Macs. Not only does the software not run natively on M1 Macs but it also does not run in Rosetta. In fact, the Calibration+ software cannot even be installed because the installer cannot be opened because it is "from an unidentified developer". This monitor is obviously targeted for creatives and a large number of creatives work from Macs. I do not recommend buying this monitor, or any ViewSonic monitor that is reliant on the Calibration+ software, if you are running an M1 Mac. It appears that ViewSonic does not value Mac users.
