    ViewSonic VP2785-4K Reviews

    VP2785-4K 27" 16:9 4K UHD IPS Monitor is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible monitor Have been a documentary photographer for over 35 years, working for non-profit organization, and showing my work in many exhibitions. To test the ViewSonic VP2785-4K 27", I took 10 photographs that I thought were among the best prints I had made in the past ten years, and processed them again in Photoshop, this time using the new monitor. Everyone of the ten was a superior print, a couple beyond what I thought was possible to get. I should mention that my Epson printer is calibrated, but was so for the original prints. I strongly recommend the VP2785 for any professional who uses Adobe RGB, as it captures 99% of RGB.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome monitor, great value This is one of the best 4K monitor values around if you value color management in your workflow, especially one that is color-accurate out of the box and can be hardware profiled using the i1DisplayPro2 that you should already have.   The screen is crisp and consistent, with loads of options and connectivity.  The AdobeRGB and sRGB presets are incredibly useful on their own and the customization capability is off the chart. The screen has a built in KVM but only operates in split screen mode so isnt as useful a feature as first appears.  The ability to use this feature with full screen display would be a trivial software change but thats not how Viewsonic implemented the feature. The monitor isnt on sale often but when it is its the best AdobeRGB option out there.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great monitors, but they could do better I just got two of these (with a new Mac Mini) to replace a 27 iMac + old Cinema display. Mostly I use them for general work, plus I do a lot of Photoshop work (but havent since I got the monitors). The screens look great, the ergonomics are good (they move up and down, rotate and tilt reliably), and the working view angle is good (nowhere near what is claimed, but there is little color shift to 45° off center). Glare is nicely controlled. My calibration software (Spyder 5) shows that the gamut of the screen is nearly exactly Adobe RGB, as advertised. They are much better for photography than the iMac screen. But there are all sorts of issues that ViewSonic could easily fix or at least tell you about. The manuals are about the worst I have seen. Besides poor English grammar and poor organization, they use acronyms that are not defined (e.g., OSD). The have entire pages devoted to a feature that the screen does not support. (There is a footnote saying this). The screen has an extensive set of menus that you can use to make adjustments, and the only help the manuals give is to reprint the menu tree, without any explanation of what the items do. The screens arrive with a little clip, and a totally inscrutable (and wordless) sheet that shows that the clip can be inserted in the back of the screen. I couldnt find any place to insert it, and I dont know what the clip is for. The on-screen controls are very annoying to use (easy to double-click, no tactile feedback, poor menu design) and look like something from Windows 95. Some questions, which I have not been able to answer, include * My Mac cannot access the speakers in the screen. Why not? Does the USB-C connection not carry sound? Is there a setting I need to change in the screen in order for sound to work? * The USB ports wont charge an iPad, but will charge other devices? Why? * I was not able to hook up an external disk to the USB ports on the screen, even though they are supposed to be USB 3.1. * The only way to adjust screen brightness manually is to set the profile to User. But what is User? Is it Adobe RGB with brightness controls? (I think so, but cant be sure.) If you get these screens, AFAICT, you either need to use one of the built-in profiles (probably Adobe RGB) and give up being able to adjust brightness, or get your own profile device in order to be sure of accurate color. ViewSonic offers their own calibration device, which I havent used. I would definitely recommend them, but why do they do such a poor job for everything except screen engineering (which is excellent)?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from IKEA or Viewsonic The monitor is all you want and performs to spec..  If your looking for a quality 4K monitor at a reasonable price this is it.   BUT there are minimal instruction on how to assemble the support structure, connections or any other pre-use details you may be interested in having before powering up.  So be ready to hunt around for the right assembly and connections on your own!  There was a key included that I still don’t know what it’s for or where it fits. Good news though is their customer support which was excellent and got to the root of my issue quickly.  My problem? And a heads up for everyone—my late 2012 iMac did not support 4K SO I had to go out and buy a new MAC.  With the new iMac it was plug and play!  Enjoy the incredible resolution and true color palette.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly with Macbook Pro 15" touchbar I think this monitor is best valued for photography enthusiast, ticking all the right boxes: 4k / 100% adobe RGB / minimalist design with narrow bezels. For me it was more important that I did not want to buy a computer as I already have a MacBook Pro 15” Touch bar 2017 model. I wanted to take advantage of thunderbolt 3 connection on the Macbook pro. To start off with I was a bit skeptical if the thunderbolt connection could provide power to the laptop and function as monitor at the same time. This works beyond my expectations as it charges the laptop while it is connected and in use. The thunderbolt 3 connection is amazingly convenient, and I totally get why apple choose these as the only IOs, I have really come to appreciate them as they are powerful connections. I have since chosen to buy apple touchpad and keyboard, the new cool dark gray ones. I can now use the ViewSonic monitor as the only monitor, having the monitor closed on the MacBook. I was worried that I needed to open the MacBook itself to power it on, then close it, connect it to the monitor but it turns out that I just needed to press the power on button in monitor to power to turn the MacBook on. I have connected PC speakers no the monitor, sounds fine. Colors are, as expected, perfect. If you have the hole screen the same bright color, I can see some light fall off, in the bottom of the screen. This you will see this on most monitors and it is not noticeable in daily use, not even during photo editing. If you have a MacBook pro with thunderbolt connections + if you are a photo enthusiast / video editing, this monitor is a no brainer. I highly recommend this monitor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good monitor Great colors!  Im using on a MacBook Pro over a USB-C connection. Documentation, needs a lot of work. Ive owned the monitor just over a week and still trying to figure out some of the functionality. For example, if I set the monitor Standard Colors to Adobe RGB I cannot access Contrast/Brightness menu option via the monitor menu nor when calibrating with a i1Pro Display.  Looks like I need to experiment a bit. Overall, love the monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am very surprised about the quality of this product. It works perfectly with MacBook Pro using usb-c. I just want to say it is fantastic and phenomenal. I bought it when it was $200 off and it is worth every penny. Highly recommend for those who are photographer and videographer.

I received my new ViewSonic VP2785-4k 27 BH last Thursday, Jan 25m 2018; my problem is my HP Z840 with video card NVIDIA Quadro M4000 will not completely booth up when this monitor is powered on. I have to booth the machine completely before powering up the monitor. Is this a problem with the monitor or the card? I have no problem with BenQ monitor attached.
    Asked by: Emilio V.
Hello, Emilio. I have the same monitor and a NVIDIA Quadro M20000 Graphics card, both new. I used the mini-display-display port cable provided by ViewSonic and have no problem booting the computer. Before buying the monitor, I contacted ViewSonic tech support several times and found them very responsive both by e-mail and phone, but you may want to start with NVIDIA tech support first. Good luck.Bill
