Nice Set

This package works great for making digital scans of both negatives and transparencies. I used it with a 50mm Macro Z lens. However the instructions that come with this set only reference the 40mm and 60mm macro lenses, so they need to be updated. The lens adaptors that come with this set are apparently for those lenses but not the 50mm. The 50 will focus without those adaptors.

It works!

This is a great idea from Nikon. I have used other versions of slide duplicators and they never worked out, photos were not as sharp and were limited to jpeg. sizes only. I tested this device as soon as I received it, and it works great, especially with my Nikon 850 which allows you to adjust color and exposure right in the camera. I do all my corrections in Ps on my PC which is even a greater.

I have been pleased with the results taking digital photos of color slides using a Nikon Zfc, FTZ II and a Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 40 mm f/2.8G DX lens. I suspect that doing this with a mirror-less is somewhat easier than with a DSLR.

A simple and great way to digitize your slides and negatives

Great Scanning Option

I've tried a lot of different techniques to scan negatives, from the lab (expensive), on a scanner (slow) and with various holders and my DSLR. This is probably the best option in terms of overall quality pf the scans.

Worked as expected.

Made relatively short work of something I've been wanting to do for 50 years.

It works!

As someone who has tried to construct a stand to position slides to rephotograph, I will tell you that this unit gets it done cleanly. Note: This is set up for *Full Frame* cameras! To use an APS camera (Sony FX30) I needed a 2 inch 52mm diameter extension In Front of the macro lens and before the ES-2 unit. With the amazing quality of digital cameras these days, and the option of RAW file capture, I see no point in using slow and expensive slide/negative scanners. The unit is entirely good quality plastic, but as an older person not used to good gear made out of the newer, very capable plastics, it feels kinda cheap, and I worry about the threads. It feels great to start the process of transferring and organizing my thousands of slides.

I love it!!

question

I have a D7200 and an AF-S Micro 85mm 1:3.5 G ED lens. Will this digitizing adapter work with this setup? What are the compromises? I am not worried about reversing negatives. I am most interested in a quick way to digitize a lot of slides and have a scanner for quality scanning of the few that warrant it.

Will this work with any macro lens with a 52mm filter thread? I have a laowa 65mm macro with 2:1. Will that work?
Asked by: Rivki
I wondered that myself and tried it with my Zeiss 100mm macro and a step down ring and it didn't work. I ended up buying a nice second hand Nikon 60mm macro which is the desired lens. You might be lucky with your 65mm? but the Nikon is 1:1 so not sure compared to your 2:1? Hope that helps.

If the lens isn't a Macro (micro), you can use extension tubes.

question

What is the thread size of the adapter? I'll need to buy a step up or down adapter ring to fit my Tokina 100mm macro lens, which has 55mm threads. Thanks.
Asked by: Hudson
The filter thread size of the Nikon AF-S Micro NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED lens that this adapter is designed for is 62mm. You may be able to adapter it with the correct step up ring.
