Polaroid Originals SX-70 Overview

One of the most iconic cameras to ever be produced, this silver and brown SX-70 Instant Film Camera is now available refurbished from Polaroid Originals. Differing from most instant film cameras, the SX-70 features a folding SLR design that is both compact and functional, as well as an aesthetically desirable item in and of itself.

The SX-70 features a 116mm f/8 glass lens with a four element design and manual focus operation via a front geared wheel. An automatic variable shutter speed and aperture system links the f/8 to f/90 aperture range with a shutter speed range of 1/180 sec to more than 5 sec for accurate results. This refurbished model is fitted with a new Film Shield from Polaroid Originals, which ensures consistent and accurate developing after each shot by shielding the film from light when it is expelled from the camera. Additionally, as with all classic Polaroid cameras, this SX-70 utilizes batteries from the film packs to power itself, alleviating the need to carry spare batteries for use. Pairing the classic, tested functionality and retro aesthetic, this refurbished model allows you to capture today's memories with vintage technology.

Polaroid Originals SX-70 Reviews

Good Camera

Just received the SX-70 after being on backorder for a few weeks & it shoots well as many would expect. Great outside & so so inside. Definitely need a flash. However, after receiving it, I noticed the focus ring on the lens wasn't there. Not sure if this is standard with reproduction but seems like it should be there...

This SX70 must be handled differently than other cameras. Once holding the camera is learned it is easy to use. Refurbished to new condition, it's like new. Accessories are available such as a flash (electronic or flash bar), carry case. Film is expensive, but compared to regular film which includes purchase and processing it is comparable pricing.

I do not want to discourage anyone from discovering for the first time or rediscovering, the greatness of Dr. Edwin Land's amazing invention. Its history is phenomenal. It may be me, it may be the not-quite-up-to-snuff film the new manufacturers are making - I just cannot get the kind of results in photographs I used to. The SX-70 itself is very well reconditioned. All of you Polaroid photographers who are using the reconditioned cameras and the new films - please post your results with the camera! I really would like to use the camera again as I used to. I had great luck with it, whether it was technical photography, portraits, closeups - it did everything well. Or I could fiddle with the settings and it would do well. Right now I'll have to wait for "the next wave" when I'm ready to try with the SX70 again. I have to say - It is hard to get over how beautiful this camera is. Last comment - Tell young folks to read about Edwin Land. Thank you for reading.

I've been wanting this camera for a while, and with the much improved polaroid original film that clinched the deal. The price did increase since I had originally looked at it, but decided it would be worth it, and it was... I love it with it's manual focusing, close up range and the glass lens clarity!!!!!! I am also loving the ability to do emulsion transfers, it just broadens your creative options!!!! Plus the design is just classic...

Clearly, it's wonderful that the SX-70 is back! It seems that there is also an auto focus type, and B & H always has a good selection of products and is much better than Amazon!

good as ever

Is this camera in working condition and takes good pictures? Are the parts easily sold if needed replaced? And is the film still sold for this camera? Which kind does it take? Thank you.
