Epson WF-7720 Reviews

WorkForce WF-7720 All-in-One Inkjet Printer is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 264.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Least Dependable Printer I have ever Owned Get features, best wide format usability, but totally unreliable I'm on my 4th Epson printer, first two were same machine with different model numbers. Second two were WF 7720. The first WF 7720 lasted about a month or so before the scanner when bad so I just replaced it with a new one. I know it will only last a few months to a year before it goes bad. I now get the protection plan so I can just take it back. All of this may sound strange, however, I keep getting the same machine because there it nothing else like it on the market. It's just to bad it is made so poorly! I have the first two, non working, in my office, employees call it the grave yard.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible! We are on our 5th one in 6 months! We purchased our printer approximately 6 month ago and have 3-4 replacements in that time. We are a small office with light printer needs. The first printer had issues where it wouldn't print the yellow ink. The second replacement printer was sent broken with pieces literally broken off upon arrival. The third one had issues as well. The current printer does not print straight and it doesn't matter if it is making copies or printing directly from the computer. It also pulls multiple pieces of paper through at once. We have done all the manufacturers troubleshooting recommendations and continue to have issues.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Paper Type Management For some reason, the printer only supports photo papers in Tray #1. Which would be well and good if it didn't then get confused about what paper type is selected in the driver, versus selected in the printer. The several Mac clients on my network have issues printing. Selecting "Auto Select" for the paper type always prints from tray 1. Even when selecting the paper type, the printer itself often decides that the requested type doesn't match the tray, even when they are the same (see photo). If you are a mac user, this is an almost unusable printer except for experts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top of the line for office I think that this printer is one of the best that I have ever used. The speed and quality of the prints are excellent. I like the color saturation of the prints and the sharpness that they have. This is a great printer for an office or home office it prints extra wide pages and also scans larger pages. It has a place to load pages in the back to scan. It also is very easy to print from a phone or tablet with the Epson app. Everyone at the office really enjoys this printer, it's a great option for an office printer. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce WF-7720 Wide Format All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Oerall good, not so good on color Just set it up today and tried all the functions. Everything worked fine, easy to set up, but you have to manually reset (via the LCD screen on the printer) the paper size or type if you want to override a preset (ex. plain paper used when printing a photo when the printer's automatic setting is photo paper). I was disappointed by the color quality of photos (text was fine) - based on the reviews and specs, I expected better quality. The photo on premium glossy paper was as bad as plain paper - dark and dull. Colors are not vivid. Good printer/scanner for all around use, except printing color brochures and photos. I do like the ability to scan from my computer rather than initiate from the printer (a la my ancient HP M5035 from 2005).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Why I like and dislike my printer I have used this printer for approximately 1 year. It has been a pleasure with one exception. Lately 2 of my print cartridges have become low on ink at which point my print keeps telling me it cannot recognize any of my print cart cartridges and I must take the cartridges out and reseat them. Maybe this works and maybe it won't. But when I replaced one of the cartridges that was low it settled down and is now running fine. I also had a little trouble with the firmware as I did not have a dvd disc drive with my laptop and it kept downloading from the internet to my old computer which I gave to my son and it was going there instead of my new computer which did not have a dvd drive. Now I have one and all is well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Features! Versatile 4-color office printer, BUT... Having had the WorkForce WF-7720 for only a short while, I can say it seems to share most of the qualities both good and bad with its predecessor, the WF-7620 / 7610, which I had used for about 2 years Notable changes from the 7620/7610 are a new control interface which looks nicer and folds out of the way, but I find more annoying to use. The scanner works great, the prints are fast and clear, the auto-duplexer makes double-sided printing a breeze even on 11" x 17" paper and the color is sharp and vivid, especially considering this is a 4-color office printer with pigment ink. Speaking of ink, as this printer appears to be based upon the previous model, even sharing the same ink cartridges, it is most important to use it regularly! As in at least weekly, or, like me, you will possibly end up with an irreparably clogged printhead.... even using only store-bought Epson ink cartridges. I would go so far as to say that if the printer is to be left idle for an extended period (more than a few weeks), have a professional flush the printhead with storage fluid first. Even buying at full list price, the WF-7720 is inexpensive to buy... BUT, this is certainly not the cheapest printer to operate. However, it is one of the easiest to use and can provide great results quickly and easily. It excels at small runs of double-sided prints, like pamphlets and flyers. It prints out pretty impressive 13"x19" posters, and does tolerably well at photographs, though it is certainly not a great photo printer.. If you do quite a bit of printing regularly, even small runs of booklets, this printer can help you. The pigmented ink is pretty durable, any your printed material will stand up well to casual spills and wetting, as well as resist fading. If you tend to go over a week without printing something, have no plans to print large-format projects, or if you are concerned about ink costs, eventual replacement or repair, then this is probably not your best choice.
