    Seagate 3.5 HDD (Helium) reviews

12TB Enterprise Capacity 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal HDD is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loud and a bit slow For years I've used 4 3TB Seagate drives in an OWC enclosure in RAID 5. Now repeated that set-up with these 12TB drives. Unfortunately they're much louder than the 3TB drives from several years ago (can't recall the version name), constantly making that crunchy "seeking" sound. As I use the drive for video editing, this was a problem. Also, this drive responds a bit slower than the older drives, making it hard to play edits with several composited visual tracks (older, smaller RAID plays it no problem). I wonder if this is due to the drives being much larger. I don't know if the noise is also related to the drive size. Ultimately decided to use this as a back-up system rather than the main editing system. I trust Seagate for reliability, just too bad about the noise and slight lag time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seagate enterprise series drives are reliable. I have used Seagate enterprise series drives for my archival needs for many years. Used to be call the ES series. They are very durable & reliable. Do not use consumer drives. They are not in the same league. The electronics components quality used in the Enterprise series is much higher than the consumer ones. Do not believe those who said its merely a firmware difference on the net. Get the Seagate Enterprise series drives if you cherish your data.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not reliable at all I have ordered 18pcs, 7 of them didn't work straight from the box. If there were less than 5 starts I would have rated minus
