Sony X960E overview

  • 1Description

View content at four times the resolution of 1080p with the Sony X690E-Series 70"-Class HDR UHD Smart LED TV. It has a 69.5" LED-backlit LCD display, and incorporates Sony's Motionflow XR 240 technology to digitally enhance fast-moving images to reduce blur. This TV will also upscale images to near-4K resolution with the 4K X-Reality PRO engine. The X690E has built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity to allow access to your favorite apps and Internet-based content via the Opera app store, plus content sharing and screen mirroring with your other compatible smart devices such as your smartphone or tablet.

With one component video and three HDMI inputs, there are multiple options for connecting high-definition video sources. The component input also acts as a hybrid port, which allows you to connect a composite video source instead. Three USB ports are available for connecting compatible multimedia peripherals like flash drives.

Note: Content acquired via certain apps may require subscription to a service. Not all services are available in all areas.

Combined with 4K Ultra HD resolution and compatible content, HDR video content delivers enhanced detail, color, and contrast, with a wider range of brightness than other video formats for enhanced highlights and detail.
4K X-Reality PRO
The 4K X-Reality PRO engine upscales images to near-4K clarity. Individual parts of each scene are analyzed and matched with an image database that independently addresses texture, contrast, color, and edges for enhanced detail.
Enhanced Sound and Dialog
ClearAudio+ is designed to fine-tune TV sound for a more immersive experience, allowing you to hear music and dialogue with enhanced clarity and separation.
Motionflow XR 240 Helps Keep the Action Smooth
Sony's refresh rate technology, Motionflow XR 240, is designed to allow fast-moving action sequences in sports and movies to be seen with enhanced motion clarity.
DSEE Restores Detail to Digital Music
A large amount of information gets lost when digital audio is compressed. With Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology, lost frequency components, especially high frequencies, are restored for a more natural sound.
One-Click YouTube Access
Go straight to YouTube and enjoy all your favorite videos with the YouTube button built into the remote control.
S-Force Front Surround
S-Force Front Surround is designed to mimic the way the brain correlates sound sources to help create proper volume, time lag, and sound-wave spectrum, using only left and right speaker channels. This emulation of three-dimensional sound fields will help you enjoy rich, high-fidelity audio across a wider listening area.
Wireless Entertainment with Built-In Wi-Fi
With built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, you're able to go online and browse movies, enjoy video channels like YouTube, and access services such as on-demand TV. You can also stream entertainment from your wireless home network without the clutter of cables.
Clear Phase Technology
Clear Phase Technology uses a computer model to analyze and compensate for inaccuracies in speaker response by "sampling" the speaker frequency with higher precision. This information is fed back to cancel out any peaks or dips in the speaker's natural response, resulting in more pure, natural audio with smooth, even reproduction of all frequencies.
Multi-Format USB Playback
Play music, video clips, and view photo collections through the TV with support for a range of popular codecs. The USB ports support FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS formatted drives.
Screen Mirroring with Miracast and Photo Sharing Plus
Screen mirroring lets you enjoy content and apps from your compatible smartphone on the TV. Enlarge all your memories and enjoy them on the big screen with family and friends.

    Sony X960E reviews

X690E-Series 70"-Class HDR UHD Smart LED TV is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feel Good About the Decision Not especially sophisticated in this field, so went with a name we trust, and were not disappointed. VERY happy with picture quality (we use it only as a monitor and so have no experience with sound quality) and the fact that it is significantly lighter than many comparable units was a welcome benefit when hanging it on a wall mount. Has many smart features that we don't use (because we play everything through an Onkyo receiver and stream through a Roku) but out-of-the-box picture is very impressive, and a wide range of adjustments to all parameters guarantees that anybody will be happy with the final set-up. Frankly, find it hard to imagine why anybody would spend more on something else...we can't think of any way in which it could be better, but then as I said we're not really AV enthusiasts, just everyday folk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great TV for most First of all, if you haven't seen the review on rtings, I would highly recommend reading their take on this TV. Overall, I'm really happy with the TV. I got a great black friday deal and I'm still very satisfied. 4k content looks great, HDR looks mediocre (the 850 series and up look much better in HDR). It's great for the budget price. My only slight complaint is that the panel is not very bright (even turned up all the way). If you're in a brightly lit room with your blinds raised with lots of sunshine, the panel has a hard time keeping up. I suppose most TVs would struggle in this, but my old Sony that this TV replaced was plenty bright in the same room. We were considering the 850 65inch vs the 690 70inch, and we're glad we compromised on display quality for size. This TV fills our large living room pretty well (we previously had a 60inch that looked tiny). I'm considering buying another one for our TV room upstairs (to replace another 60inch TV)...we'll have to see how low the price can go when they get phased out.
