LG 27MD5KB-B Reviews

One Image Defect

Great monitor but I didn't expect to have an image defect for that price. It's got a hot white 2mm line at a 45° angle right in the middle of the screen.

Works fine with 2018 Macbook Pro

I noticed Apple was still selling the older "A" version of this monitor rather than the revised "B" version listed here. This one worked fine with no problems at all. People have had various issues with the A version, but I have only tested this one. The stand is slightly wobbly when extended all the way up. But at least it can extend up, unlike an actual iMac--which is fixed at one height. Screen is glossy, same as an iMac. I don't think this screen has any anti-reflection coating (the kind used on iMac and also most eyeglasses). So in theory it should reflect a little more light than an iMac. But in practice, it wasn't a problem.

GREAT accessory for an iMac PRO

Fits in with my iMac PRO like a glove and expands my screen real estate. Very useful for my PP work. Was truly Plug n' Play on install. 5k, just like the built-in monitor. Not one complaint after a week of use!

Overall a nice display, but no 3 year warranty as advertised

The display is beautiful overall. Pluses: - Great stand - Nice VESA mount support - Great colors - Sharp and clear, looks same as the iMac - True retina, appropriate pixel density for a mac - Mac brightness and volume controls work - Integrated camera - Plays very well with my MacBook Pro 2019 - none of the usual hassles on connect/disconnect or sleep/wake so far Cons: - Warranty paperwork in the box shows only 1 year coverage of controller board, one of the main risky parts -B&H's product page is deceptive here & I am quite annoyed about it. - Several dead pixels together, ugh - Monitor ambient light sense not integrated with OS X, does not auto adjust - Pretty expensive haha Not sure what is up with the folks who comment on the sound quality. It's perfectly normal & acceptable - this is a desktop workstation display, not a TV.

Excellent!

Purchased this to replace an aging Apple Cinema display. To work with a new Mac Mini. Startling improvement: great color, contrast and resolution. Painless install and recognition. Go for it if you need a new monitor.

I had zero problems setting this up. Plug it in and the USB C power port and provided cable supply power to the laptop.

Rippin' Resolution

As an architectural photographer, I'm always hoping for additional resolution and this beast delivers. It's plug & play, calibrates easily and I don't miss the Apple 27" monitor. Image is fine, like a giant iPhone.

will this display work with windows 10 and asus thunderbolt 3 pci card installed
Asked by: Gor
Since you will have no control of the brightness, sound, or camera via Windows 10, I would not do it even though it might connect. It will. But, it will use the last setting on brightness, usually, with no chance to change it. No drivers are available although early on someone created some, not LG, they quit working on subsequent updates from Microsoft. SM

question

Why does this have a 10ms response time vs 5ms for the cheaper LG?
Asked by: Gabrielle H.
Many factors come into play when comparing monitors. First and foremost is resolution. It may not be a fair comparison if all capabilities are not taken into account.

Not sure. We purchased for MBP with touch bar. In theory, it should work if you have the latest OS and connect a USB-C to USB-A cable.
