Audinst HUD-MINI overview

  • 1Description

The Audinst HUD-mini is a compact USB DAC designed to provide increased volume and sound quality for music lovers and audiophiles in listening rooms, home studios, and home theaters. It utilizes a Burr-Brown D/A converter, supports resolutions up to 24-bit / 192 kHz, and works with a variety of headphone impedances from 16 to 300 Ohms.

Use the supplied USB cable to connect your computer to the HUD-mini, which is USB-powered to negate the need for an external power supply. A 2-color LED indicates power status and signal presence. Plug headphones into the 3.5mm and 1/4" headphone jacks and hook up speakers via the supplied 5’ RCA cable. A toggle switch allows you to switch signal between the headphone and line outputs. You can also route audio through the digital TOSLINK optical output to a stereo receiver. The front-panel volume knob controls the headphone monitoring level.

    Audinst HUD-MINI reviews

HUD-mini Compact USB DAC with Dual Headphone Amp is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing unit! I wanted to hook up my Logitech Z5500 5.1 surround sound speaker system to my new 2017 MacBook Pro using optical input. Since the laptop lacks optical input, I plugged the USB cable of this amp into a Hyperdrive DUO hub for USB-C and into the laptop. The laptop recognizes the amp automatically. To get the sound to work, go to system preferences>sound and switch from internal speakers to Audinst HUD-mini: speaker. This little device does the trick and I now have surround sound!
