This adapter is equipped with numerous capabilities thanks to the use of a high-performance processor. The features include support for autofocus as well as the ability to control the aperture from the camera body. Smooth iris effects are possible as well on select lenses and 5-axis stabilization is available thanks to communication of information with supported lenses. Also, it enables electronic (focus-by-wire) manual focusing, transmits Exif data to the camera, and works with in-lens image stabilization. Additionally, distance and zoom is displayed on certain camcorders and mirrorless cameras and Cinema EOS lenses are supported when running the adapter off an external 5 VDC power supply via the micro-USB port.

Beyond electronic communication, the adapter has many physical advantages as well, such as a black felt flocking on the inside of the adapter that prevents reflections. For larger lenses, there is a removable Arca-type-compatible tripod foot with a 1/4"-20 thread on the base.

According to Metabones' website, the Canon EF to BMPCC 4K version is tailor-made to match the exact height of the BMPCC4K camera body. They also claim when the BMPCC 4K version Speed Booster® is used with other MFT cameras, it may cause damage to the camera.

question

Would the Metabones Canon EF Lens to Micro Four Thirds Camera T CINE Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x (Fifth Generation) work with the GH5s and Tamron SP 17-50mm Di2 F/2.8 lens for video? If so is it compatible with 4K AND 1080? How good will the auto focus work with this lens, mostly concerned with momentary focus not continuous, to quickly grab focus before shooting.
Asked by: David
The Tamron SP 17-50mm Di2 F/2.8 lens and the Canon EF Lens to Micro Four Thirds Camera T CINE Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x (Fifth Generation) will work on the GH5s. While we have not tested this specific combination of camera-adapter-lens, we feel that auto focus should be acceptable particularly the momentary.

question

Is this a 0.71x, or a 0.64x reducer? Because when I choose the 0.71 option, it still shows 0.64 in the description!!!
Asked by: Max N.
I would assume it is as shown, regardless. Worst case, call them and ask for the specific one you want, or make sore you see the part number change.
