The 15.6" display is built with ultra-thin bezels, which makes it possible to fit within a standard 14" chassis. NanoEdge Display
The VivoBook S15 manages to fit a 15.6" display within the body of a 14" laptop thanks to its ultra-narrow bezels. Moreover, it has wide 178° viewing angles and an 80% screen-to-body ratio for a more immersive viewing experience.

Asus SonicMaster
Asus SonicMaster is a combination of hardware and software features designed to provide you with powerful, clear audio with minimal distortion.
Asus IceCool technology uses smart fan control, thin heatpipes, and an optimized internal layout to keep things operating at cooler temperatures.

Windows 10 Home

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    ASUS VivoBook S15 reviews

    15.6" VivoBook S15 S510UQ Notebook is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A bit bigger than I thought it was At first glance this computer may seem a bit big and heavy but it's not. I installed 8G of RAM as it came with not enough for me. I will be using this machine to edit some RAW files while on the road and need all the available RAM possible. Also, I replaced the 1 Terabyte hard drive for 1 Terabyte SSD just to have a faster scratch disk for PS CC but with the same capacity as new. Amazing to note how fast this thing is ready to go once I press the power button! it's even faster than my desktop with more power! Exchanging the HDD for an SSD is not complicated, just remember that there are two hidden screws under the two back rubber feet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only Ultrabook with 8th Gen i7, 32GB RAM, under 4# I had been looking for an Ultrabook with the latest Intel 8th Gen i7 and expandable memory to 32GB, but weighing less than 4#, and this was one of only 3 notebooks I could find that fit the bill as of 4/8/2018. The others had significantly smaller screens (13") versus this one's 15". I love that it has dual drives, the memory upgrade was quick and easy and picked up immediately on reboot. With technology were it is today, you could actually load this puppy up with 4TB of storage, 32GB of RAM, the latest quad-core mobile Intel i7, all weighing less than 4#. Nice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations! Incredibly fast, very portable, light weight. Cant say enough good things about this laptop. Did a great deal of research before deciding on this computer, its everything i'd hope it would be. Love the 15.6 screen size on a 14" frame. Sold my macbook pro so I could purchase this laptop and I like it much better, and im a huge mac/apple fan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised I use Lightroom and Photoshop intensively with this computer. Nice graphics processor. Screen color calibration, with no hassle. Good performance. Works as advertised. Worthy of top selling item rating by B&H. Only thing I do not like is that there is no Ethernet RJ45 plug in it. But with super thin body, I can see why. No room for it. Still investigating if RJ45 can be done via hub with new USB C interface. Authoritative answer not yet forthcoming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine for the Price#2 I was asked for my review, but already submitted one. Apparently, they do not track these things. So, once again here is my review. I am using this for light work, web browsing, email, light gaming, and other various things. As others have said, battery goes down significantly during system updates. Now that that is done, I am getting about five hours when using it. That is not too bad given its rather superb performance and I would seldom need to use this machine more than this on battery alone. I am also impressed with the design. It has the newest Intel processor, a separate NVIDIA video card as well as Intel Integrated graphics, it is very thin, and very lightweight. You can also select which graphics engine to use by choosing an appropriate setting in the NVIDIA app. If you do not like bloatware, do not install the so-called ASUS Gifts. They are bloatware and, for the most part, are not free. I have upgraded to Windows 10 Pro and will install a larger 256 GB SSD and an additional 8 GB of memory this weekend. That should help me zip through everything. A final comment on this: you can probably stick with the 128 GB SSD that comes with the machine if you change the location of My Documents, photos, music and video to the larger 1 TB hard drive. In addition, install all new programs to this drive as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from light, quiet and fast enough so far Other than a Microsoft surface I buy strictly Asus stuff and have had my stuff last and last. The only reason for this purchase was my ROG 17" was getting just too heavy for my daily user. This laptop is light, quiet, fast and does everything I need so far. Screen is pretty nice as well. Priced right too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it but... Microsoft which is loaded on the system continues to be a pain as it keeps asking me to change my password as it doesn't seem to recognize my password after a while. This is not the hardware's fault but I could not get the pc up and running without going through Microsoft. The hardware is set up with a c drive and a d drive. I had to do some manipulations to get the drives balanced for my pictures and data. All my pictures and documents were going to c drive instead of d drive. I bought the pc for photos and it is a little slow or sluggish due to the processor speed. I hadn't purchased a pc in several years and relied on the salesman to give me the best recommendation. I guess that for price, I sacrificed speed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a fantastic laptop for the price; highly recommended I teach computer science at a college and usually design and build my own desktop PCs. As a "power user" I tend to avoid laptops but recently found need to have one so reluctantly I began researching the options. I searched for weeks through the many channels I have access to, and finally decided upon this little ASUS unit. (Disclaimer: I have had fantastic results with ASUS motherboards in PCs for many, many years; thus, I am partial to ASUS because of their excellent track record in the PC parts world.) I am really, really pleased with this purchase! ASUS avoided the "bloatware" plague that many companies foist upon their products: this came "lean and mean", ready to go. I did have to do a lot of Microsoft updates on it first (took a long time) but that's not ASUS' fault; it's just the way it is. Once updated, I loaded apps and haven't looked back. I am quite pleased with this laptop and commend the following strengths it has: a) A lot of horsepower for what I paid; b) It has a FANTASTIC screen!!! I'd buy it all over again just because of this beautiful screen (and I am a "screen snob" with a high-end IPS panel on my desktop for photo editing with DxO or Lightroom) c) It is very light weight and very thin. Looking for a small but very capable laptop? This one fills the bill.
