Canon GX10 overview

  • 1Description

Use the Canon VIXIA GX10 Camcorder to capture UHD 4K video at 60 fps, recording in MP4 to dual SD memory card slots. This camcorder packs several pro-style features into its compact form, including Dual-Pixel Autofocus (DPAF). The GX10's 1" 8.29MP CMOS sensor and dual DIGIC DV 6 image processors support Wide DR Gamma with high sensitivity and low noise. Slow and fast-motion recording up to 120 fps offers special looks for highlighting sports and other special events. Smooth, steady shooting is assisted by the GX10's five-axis optical image stabilization. For composing and viewing your footage, the VIXIA GX10 incorporates a flip-out 3.5" touchscreen LCD, and a 0.24" electronic viewfinder.

High-resolution UHD 4K imaging extends throughout the entire range of the GX10's integrated 15x zoom, enabling you to get both the close-up and wide shots you need. Optical imaging features include a nine-blade iris, built-in ND filters, and a switchable focus/zoom ring. Expand your framing capabilities with optional 1.5x telephoto and 0.8x wide-angle converters (not included).

Dual-Pixel CMOS AF technology uses phase-difference AF to offer millions of focus detection points, resulting in faster, more natural-looking, and more accurate autofocusing—a boon to individual operators. Use the touchscreen and the Face Detection AF function for even more focus control.

Additional GX10 features include an HDMI 2.0 port for outputting your 4K UHD footage, assignable user buttons, and remote control using the included WL-D89 controller. Wi-Fi connectivity offers live streaming, FTP file sharing, and remote control via iOS and Android apps.

    Canon GX10 reviews

VIXIA GX10 UHD 4K Camcorder with 1" CMOS Sensor & Dual-Pixel CMOS AF is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from 4K video dull and not that sharp I really wanted to like this camera. I am a professional video producer and bought this camera for b-roll. I opted for the GX10 rather than the more professional models because I did not need XLR audio inputs or the other features of the more expensive versions. In all other ways the three Canon models are identical. I'm afraid Canon has a ways to go to catch up with Sony and Panasonic as far as 4K imaging. I found the video dull looking and not that sharp. Too bad because the dual pixel auto focus and image stabilization work very well. Bottom line for me is that it's all about the picture quality. Many thanks to B&H for their excellent customer service and return policy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Had a Change of Heart Well I bought this camcorder because it had 4K 60P even though I thought it was too expensive. I got to tell you I really liked the looks of the camcorder but after reading the review here about it not being that sharp and because I got the same opinion from a B&H employee I decided I could would switch to the Sony FDR-AX700 even though it doesn't have 60P. it's about $600.00 cheaper. I hope I like it. So, because of price, I only gave it 4 stars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from THIS CAMCORDER DOES NOT RECORD STILLS This camcorder has a terrible problem: IT DOES NOT RECORD STILLS, Records just videos. I hope future firmwares will correct this, but for now I advise no one to buy it. I asked the Canon support. They told me that it shoots photos, but were not able to show me how.
