    Akitio Thunder3 Quad Mini reviews

Thunder3 Quad Mini 4-Bay RAID Array (Charcoal Gray) is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rocking Good I've only had this for less than one month, so if anything changes I'll update this review. I highly recommend this enclosure if you have thunderbolt 3. The case looks slick next to a mac, is not that big, ONLY takes SSD drives, and is as whisper quiet. I have it loaded with 4 x 1TB samsung EVO 850 drives, RAID 0 so take my speeds with a grain of salt, compared to yours. Even though it has a button to turn off the fan, I don't know why you would need it off. The case is easy to open. Tightening all the screws to secure the SSD's was repetitive. The thunderbolt 3 cable is too small, so splurge on a longer one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! I'm using this with four Samsung 850 EVO SSDs on my 2017 MacBook Pro 15". The product is fast; it does not get in the way of the SSDs. The unit is also high quality and quiet. Even though it is possible to run it with the fan turned off, so far I don't mind the sound of it. I am using OpenZFS with the drives but a more mainstream solution that I also tested successfully is SoftRAID.
