Kodak Printomatic overview

  • 1Description

Mixing the fun of instant prints with the convenience of digital, the gray Kodak PRINTOMATIC is a digital camera that can produce instant ZINK prints. Using a 10MP image sensor and wide-angle f/2 lens, the camera records digital images which are then automatically printed as 2 x 3" prints for sharing, as well as saved to a microSD card. The camera's simple point-and-shoot design features an optical viewfinder for intuitively composing images, has both black & white and vibrant color shooting modes, and has a built-in flash for working in low-light conditions. The built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery can be charged via USB and integrated indicators are available to relay low battery power, printing media, and memory card storage levels.

    Kodak Printomatic reviews

PRINTOMATIC Instant Digital Camera (Gray) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much FUN! This is a great camera. Reminds me of the disposable cameras from the old days, but dont need to wait for the film to develop. The quality is pretty good. The prints come out almost immediately. Very easy to frame in the viewfinder and snap a picture. Overall, great Kodak.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ho-Hum, but wait... Kodak has always been notorious for making their sample images look WAAAAAAYYYY better than the reality, and this camera is no different. Prints are obviously lo-resolution digital, take quite awhile to print, and have a terrible colour cast - which puts it firmly in line with every picture I took while growing up. The in camera .jpeg are such lo-res that you can't do anything with them except post them on istagram. And the most niggling feature is the lack of any sort of tactile feedback when taking a picture. The shutter release isn't two phase, so you touch it, and poof about 45 seconds later, a picture comes out. Negatives aside, it's a cute camera, the viewfinder, although not terribly accurate, is very bright and easy to see through, the zink paper is less than half the cost of actual instant film, and it is still a fun camera to keep in youur bag. The adhesive backed paper is great if you keep a journal and want to pop in an instant shot from time to time. It's refreshing because we tend to get caught up in the tech and specs all the time - pictures don't have to be perfect to be amazing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not What I had Hoped For The Good: It's OK for people at a party. Shots are acceptable. OK in lots of light. The Bad: Photos are average at best regarding color and clarity. Rangefinder view finder does not work well in landscape mode. Portrait OK. Overall: The prices is the best thing about this camera and maybe only good thing. Clearly there is a reason that Kodak has already upgraded to next version. Try it instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Color me amazed This camera is super cute, easy to carry, and very chic. And the best part is that it's not all about cuteness and being up to date with the trend, you would love the functionality too. I sure did. You get the photo you just took printing and resting right in the palm of your hand in just a snap. And it's not a cheap kind of printing, mind you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So fun and simple! This is such a nifty little camera, and so much fun! It's biggest strength is it's simplicity! It has no LCD, just a rangefinder viewer, you click, and your photo instantly prints out. The ZINK photo paper is great. No developing, it comes out of the camera done. Doesn't smudge, doesn't tear, water resistant, and has the adhesive backing to boot! Because it has no LCD, the battery lasts much, much longer. Also great for adding photos to journals/notebooks, greeting cards, art projects, scrapbooks, or just decorating your fridge. Be creative and have fun with it! I love it! It also saves every photo you take on a micro-sd card (if you use one). Picture quality is great too. Good color and clarity. These are small prints (2in x 3in), so 10 MP is plenty! This is a casual fun instant camera. It's not for taking high end photos, so people should not complain. If that's what you want, it isn't the camera for you, obviously. If you want to have fun, this is for you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every cent I'm no wealthy man who will spend a fortune for a lot of expensive things they find attractive online. I'm rather the thrifty one with eyes only for useful things with great functionality. Hence, I prioritize quality over quantity and over leisure. For a cheapskate person like myself, $69 for an instant camera is a good price considering you get a quality item. I would have hated it if I got a trashy product, and I sure am glad I didn't. And if I calculated right, buying papers for future use would mean spending $0.50 per print. Again, for a thrifty person like myself, that would have been a no-go still because I get to take images using my camera phone and save it all somewhere in the cloud for free. But if I think about it correctly, having printed copies of the images of my wife and kids would require me to go to a printer and sort things out. Thus, I'd need to buy cartridge, ink, and paper. Now, if I stick with the $0.50 per print, I get to save myself from all that messy stressful hassle that a father with zero interest in deeper sense of technology would have to go through just to have a printed copy of his son's graduation image. I'm old, yes. And that's another thing. So, if I have to rate this overall, I'd say this product is worth it.
