Timbuk2 Command Backpack reviews

Command Backpack (Nautical) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 151.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfectly Designed Bag, just not rugged enough I have had the Command backpack for over 2 year now and have used it as my day-to-day work back for commuting (transit and biking) and traveling. I have been very happy with the bag as it holds everything in the right and accessible place (tablet, laptop, passport, etc.) I made a mod to add a more accessible internal loop to carry keys and headphone cases which I had done with the uptown bag I had previous to this. The one negative I have found with the bag is that it has worn much more than the Uptown bag I had, I have large hole on the back padding and some of the lower seams are starting to open up. Overall I would recommend but it is not a rugged as a Tumi or other career bags.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great looking bag, but bad stitching on mine. Let's start off by saying that this is a great looking backpack. I've only had it for two weeks and had 3 people ask about it. Unfortunately I've told them all that the first time that I hung a camelbak water bottle on it while enroute to a job site, the stitching tore and the water bottle went flying. Keep in mind, I was just walking, not flinging it around. Also, the stitching seems to be fraying around the zipper. I have a bunch of other Timbuk2 products and this has been the only one that has been subpar, so don't let this discourage you from buying any of their other products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stylish. Spacious. Not recommended for carrying heavy items. I bought this bag as an everyday bag. It functions well for everyday use the straps are thin and become uncomfortable if you are carrying heavy items. I traveled with this bag for a week in Myanmar, and although it fit _a lot_ of things in it (I think it's a 30L bag), the shoulder straps are really thin and became really uncomfortable. Even in everyday use, I found carrying a 15" laptop can be quite uncomfortable as well. If they can thicken the padding, this bag would be great. In a summary, if you need a stylish bag where you need to carry a lot of light things, this is ideal. However if you are carrying some heavier items, you may want to also look at other options as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for 2-3 day business travel I work in Silicon Valley and fly down to Southern CA for 1-3 days at a time every other week. I pack all my clothes in a packing "cross" in the largest compartment of this bag, put my man-purse in the second largest pocket, and put my 13" laptop and iPad in the TSA pocket. It's heavy but it feels really comfortable on my back. I love the handheld straps tuck away, the water bottle holder, and the glasses pocket. I wish the bigger pocket opened all the way for easier insertion of my clothes, and that there was a shoulder only strap to carry it more messenger style, but these are minor nits. I've used it for a half dozen trips so far and I pack it bursting at the seams but it's been the best bag I've ever used.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Backpack, but needs important changes The Command Backpack is great for someone like me- always with a laptop, an e-reader and a tablet, with a couple of notebooks with lots of pens, chargers, cables and other little things that need good organizational pockets. However, the backpack sorely misses a waterbottle and coffee pocket that ACTUALLY work. The waterbottle pocket on the side is tiny. My water bottle has fallen out of my backpack quite a few times. Now I have to carry a tote bag in addition to carry my coffee mug and waterbottle. I wish Timbuk2 makes inside pockets for this bg like it has for its other messenger bags. It'll be close to perfect then!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Meets expectations! I got this backpack specifically for travel for work. I have just used it once, so I can't comment on durability or wear. The backpack really protects my computer, though it just barely fits once I load up the backpack (macbook pro 15"). On this trip, I really loaded up the backpack, and I had plenty of room to spare. In fact, it was extremely heavy. That being said, it distributed the weight well on my small frame, and the straps were comfortable. The way I load up this pack will be a good test for durability - so stay tuned for 6 mos from now! I live in Portland, so I'll be able to test for waterproofness soon. So far, I'm extremely pleased! I gave 4 stars because this backpack hasn't been put through the paces yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Carries a whole lot more than you think I use this primarily for travel. Of course, I love the TSA-compliant feature since I carry a laptop, an iPad, and a Kindle. Zip open, zip close. Easy. What remains amazing is the amount of stuff you can fit in it. Used to be that jamming a jacket or hoodie in a pack meant the thing looked stuff, and was stuffed. Now, I actually have extra space. From a style view, it doesn't look like back-packy, but is subdued. Very cool. For me, the perfect travel pack. One really minor thing is it doesn't have a clippy thing in the pockets for your keys. I added one, because otherwise it was always fishing around in the pocket to find the keys.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from my research paid off I did a lot of research online to find the right backpack. I considered everything from a high-end luggage manufacturer to more commonly available outdoor manufacturer. I wanted something stylish, well-balanced, and comfortable. I looked for lots of storage and a pack that would fit well on my narrower shoulders. I found it all with this pack. You can't tell from the photos, but this thing has a lot of storage! I can carry all of my work-related gear and files, plus the contents normally found in my purse. Very comfortable! Two things I would like to see changed: a place to clip my keys and waterproof material, since I live in Seattle. This would make it 5 stars. Try it! You won't be sorry.
