Timbuk2 Classic Messenger Bag reviews

Unicolor Classic Messenger Bag (Medium, Gunmetal) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 637.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product? Yup - this one's in the bag! I decided to take a chance on this when my previous messenger bag was literally busting at the seams. After going for the Large size, I was concerned it would be too big. No such worries, as this amazing companion can fit my coffee thermos, water bottle, laptop, multiple folders, and all of my personal accessories without ANY problems. It's built like a tank, and the adjustment strap makes it a breeze to keep the bag close to the body for bike trips. I've already spilled on it - whoopsie, but no problem. Wiping it down right away was extra easy and it still looks brand new. The $100 price tag is well worth a piece of quality equipment such as this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Bag - Strap too short I have a number of Timbuk2 products from the D-Lux, Classic to iPad sleeves, etc. Most of the improvements and improvements for the 2014 Classic Messenger are great. FINALLY! ears that keep the elements out of the ends of the bag. Love the cordura, it is an improvement over the ballistic nylon. The new buckles with the compression straps look very nice. And now the bad: the strap is way too short. I am only 5'9" and the bag rides almost entirely above my hip. Taking the bag off does mess your hair up. I have the small, and have returned the X-small. The length of the strap is almost a deal killer for me. While the bag is very nice, it does not carry as well as my other Timbuk2 or Rickshaw bags.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Smaller, less practical than older model Was going to give 2 stars.... giving 1 now because the review pages are so f'd up on here. It's taken me 30 minute to write a review because the submit button never renders properly. I've loved my 10 year old messenger bag and decided to upgrade. Though the 2014 bag is a downgrade -everything is smaller. Main compartment, internal compartments, everything -internal storage is less practical, and small pockets are too tight to hold much of anything. -water bottle holder is too small and too tight. It's a joke. It takes two hands to insert a water bottle. The extra features are well intentioned, but timbuk2 missed the mark

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Atrocious Customer Service I double ordered the bag by accident. I tried several times prior to shippment to cancel the double order. I called, as required for some bizarre reason, in my attempts to cancel. Nobody ever picked up the line. They shipped the double order 3 days after I tried to cancel. So, of course, I had to pay for return shipping for the refund. That was 20 days ago, I still have not received my refund. This was my 3 bag from Timbuk2, they're pretty good bags. Their quality is not outweighed however by their poor service. There are other messenger bag companies, I will not return to Timbuk2 for any other item because of how poor the customer service is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Look like an adult on campus I have searched for a backpack that didn't look like I stole it from a teenager. That is harder than it seems. I wanted something that was simple, practical, had lots of pockets, and a place to hold my water bottle and coffee tumbler. This is it. It has enough room for my tablet, my books, and my lunch containers. (Granted my books are not the typical huge college texts.) I'm 5'6" and chose the small. I think it fits well and is not too big/small. I actually have come to use this everyday as a purse, leaving those actual $$ purses at home. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase, and come grad school, I might be back for a larger one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Bag This bag is excellent for consolidating the number of "Dad's got to bring" items for various day trips, running errands, going to kids' ball games, etc. I finally have a way to carry some extras, such as a water bottle, a snack, an e-reader (with charger), notebook, etc, or stash a sweater, without having to wear a knapsack or carry a briefcase. My only quibble is that I seem to have an "out of norm" desire for a color that's neither "too business" nor "too flashy." That's why I waited, and waited, and waited for 'Army Green' to be available at my price point. If Timbuk2 had this available in khaki colored fabric, I'd have bought it sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long term review - still an awesome bag after all this time! Have had it for eight years. In year two, I used it for soccer practice for my daughter's team. We had a very heavy rain storm and the bag was out in the rain during our last game with our team's pictures inside it. I thought, for sure, the pictures would be wet and ruined but they were dry. Thru biking to work, vacations, overnight work trips, and using it for music gigs with my effects pedal board, it has held up thru everything. Even when the shoulder strap broke, I just rethreaded it thru the buckle and it worked (even though it's no longer attached to the bag). Just wanted to say it's the best piece of gear I've every purchased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great school bag! My son has used another high quality bag since he started pre-k. He is now 6'1" and the other brand did not offer larger messenger bags. They also had too many pockets for my son. He would loose things. This bag is more rugged, with a longer, more comfortable strap that is placed well on the bag. Plenty of usable pockets but does not over do it. Classic style and large enough to carry everything he needs. We purchased the large size so he would have enough room for a lunch box and a jacket. Glad I found this quality bag. It is definitely worth spending the money for a bag that will be used for years to come rather than replacing one every year or more often. I wish I had one for myself.
