Timbuk2 Spire Laptop Backpack reviews

Spire Laptop Backpack (Surplus) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 196.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rough fabric tears up your clothing Overall, I like the bag and was starting to get used to the storage capabilities including the limited pockets. However, after a month or so, I started noticing the back of my shirts becoming 'pilled' just above my waistline. Turns out, the rough fabric Timbuk2 uses on this bag is rough enough to tear up my clothing. Now I have a few hoodies and softer cotton shirts that are ruined because of the bag. My workaround for now is to just synch-up the straps so tight that the bag lifts off my back, but it's not exactly practical. I've been working with customer service but they are refusing to cover this under warranty. Anyone else having these issues?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Contents were soaked today during the 1st good SF rain. I like the bag in general. It looks cool and feels sturdy. I got this for a trip I was taking, as well for my regular commute and needed something I could carry my laptop and my camera in with some extra's. It definitely has room for all of that, but disastrously today after getting caught in a downpour in San Francisco I discovered that everything at the bottom of the bag was soaked. I'm not sure why the waterproof fabric isnt consistent all the way around the bag. Apparently, the side lining is not waterproof at all which makes the entire bag NOT waterproof to me. Really disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the best This bag is more perfect in person. I have had several Timbuk2 bags in the past, but mainly commuted with an Osprey daypack that claimed to be water proof. I got a little tired of finding my things damp, and the bag wasn't quite big enough to fit everything I wanted it to carry. I'm moving to London to go to grad school, and needed a bag that could keep up with me and the weather, so I bought the Spire. Super comfy, roll-top, water proof (sailboat tested), great number of pockets and secret compartments. I don't think I'll ever get sick of looking at this bag. Timbuk2, you've done it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag! Its simple and practical! I use this for school and everyday use. Its a great bag because its simple and very practical. It also has lots of pockets which becomes very useful at times and it also has a great design. Besides using for school I've used it for my EDC and I've also travelled with it using it for day trips to weekend trips and the longest trip I've done was nothing big but I just had this bag for a one week trip vacation so it was nice because it helped me to travel light. Its a great bag and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice quality backpack who also wants to look stylish. BTW: I've gotten lots of complements on the bag!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality and Customer Service Problems I purchased this bag a few weeks ago after seeing some good reviews of it online. As a bicycle commuter, it seemed to offer a lot of functionality I was missing in my prior bag. However, I had a quality issue with the bag as soon as I removed it from the packaging. The sternum strap broke the moment I attempted to unsnap it. I emailed customer service on July 23 and never heard back, and their auto-reply states that follow-up emails will send you to the end of the queue. So overall, it seems like there's a great design to the product, but it's not worth the quality issues and lack of customer support.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Biking I think this is perfect for someone who commutes to work/school by bike. It has enough sleeves for your laptop and a tablet along with other books. I use this bag when travelling for because it stores tons of things in the main compartment. The outer surface is water resistant so if you're ever suddenly caught in some light rain it will remain dry on the inside which is fantastic! The ULock straps are what really makes it ideal for daily use because that's what I mainly use and many of my friends have bought the same bag for the same reason. I fell on my bag (without any electronics inside) when biking once and overall nothing ripped besides the mesh water bottle sleeve on the side. I think if you're willing to invest in a worthwhile bag this would be it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great lifetime investment. I needed a new back pack that served more purpose than to just hold my laptop. I searched for a macbook pro back pack and this brand popped up. First time hearing about Timbuk2, so I decided to look more into the brand and its products. I was blown away buy the amount of features compared to my back pack. Not only was the Timbuk2 cheaper, but it had almost 3 times more features (Waterproof, extra pockets, holders on the side for a water bottle, and lord have mercy...a mother lovin bottle opener.) There are only a few things that I have purchased in life that I really appreciate and share with all my friends. This back pack is one of them. Keep up the great work guys!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! I bought the Spire for daily work use and business travel. I have a Rogue backpack for personal use and I love it. I decided to get the Spire because it is similar, but has a bigger outer pocket for my passport & document wallet. I love everything about this bag and will say that it is good for a single PC lifestyle. I traveled overseas with 2 laptops and a tablet, along with accessories and all was still good -- just heavy. I wish it was a deep/thick as the Rogue, given its bigger size overall (it is actually thinner). The outside pocket and the top pocket with the side zipper were just right. All in all, I love it.
