Does the Canon XA 11 camera and the Canon XA 15 camera have neutral density (ND) filter? If yes, how can one manually set-up the ND filter (1/4, 1/32, and 1/64) on these cameras?
Asked by: Helen
Yes, the Canon XA11 and Canon XA15 cameras both have ND Filters. They can either be set to OFF or Automatic. To turn them to automatic, in M or Cinema mode, select [P Programmed AE], [Tv Shutter-Pri. AE], [AV Aperture-Pri AE] or [M Manual Exposure] recording program and set [FUNC.] -> [MENU] -> [Video Camera Icon] -> [ND Filter] to [A Automatic]. ND Filter settings will be available when the aperture value is [F4.0]. You can learn more about the ND Filter settings in the Canon XA11/XA15 manual on pages 48, 57, 118, and 119.

When zooming does the iris change?
Asked by: Jake
When zooming, if set at f/1.8 the Canon XA15 will ramp to f/2.8. However if manually set to f/2.8 there will be no ramping whatsoever during a zoom.

I read somewhere you can’t adjust the iris while you’re recording. That can’t be right?
Asked by: Jared
To clarify, short answer is that you can adjust while recording, but NOT through the touchscreen display. You have to press and hold the "Custom" button and scroll over to the "M" for manual mode. Then you can toggle through the three exposure parameters by tapping the custom button and then adjusting the dial for each parameter. I keep it set to gain.

We have balanced and tested all current Canon XA camcorders and have had no issue mounting them on the DJI Ronin RS2 and RSC2. We recommend removing the top handle for low mode.

Can this camera output HDMI while recording? We want to connect to a live stream encoder.
Asked by: jose
Yes. Output on these cameras is separate/independent of the recording function in the sense of they can work together or separate. Verify the settings are correct for the output vs. the recording resolution you want, however, as they may differ.
