iFootage BASE Reviews

This is my second Cobra base.

I have two if these, the monopod, and a couple different heads. The iFootage gear is very good and I use it a lot. I still prefer my cheap Manfrotto monopod though for sideline shooting. I use the iFootage gear mostly for video.

First of all, if you are a film or video person, why not support the greatest and most inventoried place to go for quality video products and Customer Service? Hint hint, it's not the other retail giant! Secondly, I am continually amazed by this product. Even as a third point of contact, it helps keep small cameras more stable when pressed against your body. As a desktop tripod, it is super portable and collapsible. Every film and video person needs one of these in their kit!

The Cobra Base is incredibly solid, all metal and still maneuverable. This thing is fantastic - never miss a low shot again.

We do not sell a replacement piece but I'd try contacting iFootage to see if they would be able to send one to you.

Is it possible to purchase just the quick release mechanism with the plate? Or one that similar?
Asked by: Michael
iFootage doesn't sell the head/plate as a combo. They only sell additional quick release PLATES that go for almost half the price of the entire tripod itself. The quick release mechanism is a component of the tripod itself and does not come off/is not removable.

Someone had the same problem with the Robus monopod feet and posted the K&M Female 3/8 to Male M8 x 12mm Thread Adapter, BH #KMTAZCB, which solved it.

Yes. The following foot print will support the following lens and camera combo. Giving it the lowest shooting profile.

Is this compatible with the Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head?

Can’t say for sure as I’m not familiar with that ball head, but it is highly likely it will be compatible as the iFootage will accommodate both 3/8-16 and 1/4-20 heads.

Is this compatible with a Gitzo GM5541 Monopod?
Asked by: Kevin
I have the Gitzo 5561T monopod and couldn't connect it to this base. The thread differs substantially - the Gitzo foot thread is 15mm, the Cobra Base plate thread is 6.5mm. Added to that there is a gap on the female Gitzo connector that has no thread so the 6.5mm can't bind to it at all. This is a shame as it takes out a useful option. I assume the 5541 has a different connector setup or I am missing something really obvious.
