question

I just got the iRig Pre HD. It says it will work with Android phones. I want this product to help my students in a course, but I don't have an Android phone myself. I know the lightening cable goes with the iPhone (etc.) but is the cable included that goes into an Android-based phone? I only see 2: lightening and USB.
Asked by: Mathew
The IK Multimedia iRig Pre HD is compatible with Android devices. Users can connect the Micro USB-to USB cable into an OTG adapter to get into the Android phone. For your reference, you may look at the StarTech Micro USB Male to USB OTG Host Adapter; B&H# STUUSBOTG.

Can you monitor while recording?
Asked by: benjamin
You can monitor from this device while recording. If using an app with a monitor return, then the audio will be processed and returned out the headphone output. If using an app without an audio return, then the Direct Monitoring feature of this device will allow you to hear the audio input, before being sent to the app.

Does this preamp work with the video shooting ...

Does this preamp work with the video shooting apps (3rd party or standard, such as those on Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra)? If so, does the sound in video become 24bit / 96KHz or it's downsampled to something less when recording?
Asked by: Alexander
The IK Multimedia iRig Pre HD Audio Interface with Mic Pre is capable of passing audio at a 96 kHz / 24-bit sampling rate, however because it is not a recorder itself, the sampling rate of the audio file would depend on the capabilities of the application used to record. The iRig Pre HD has general compatibility with Android OS, but specific compatibility with third party applications is dependent on the specific application's ability to be used with external microphones.

Does this come with the cabling to go out to an iPad? Lightning to Lightning?
Asked by: j isaac
Yes, the iRig Pre HD comes with two cables -- a Lightning to micro-USB cable and a USB to micro-USB cable. The host connector on the iRig is micro-USB. If your iPad uses a Lightning connector, then the Lightning to micro-USB cable is the one to use. If your iPad uses a USB-C connector, use the USB to micro-USB cable together with a Pearstone USB 3.0 Type-C to USB Type-A Adapter (B&H # PEUSB33CA06) or similar USB-C adapter.

our church switched from an analog mixing board to a digital signal processing unit... can i take the sound out of that unit and go into this irig and then to an ipad/?? in other words is this digital or analog?
Asked by: gary
This is a digital audio interface any signal which should work with your sound board as long as you have a Mono XLR output. I would suggest the iRig Stream for this kind of use. Use the RCA out on your board directly to your iOS, Mac/PC, or Android for video streaming or recording. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1523177-REG/ik_multimedia_ip_irig_stream_in_irig_stream.html

Does it’s gonna work with audio connect Mac and Switcher Studio app on iPad ?
Asked by: Brenda
Yes, the iRig Pre HD works with Mac and iOS. Unfortunately. we do not have any information on the Switcher Studio app. It looks like they suggest the original iRig Pre. Check with their team to see if they allow digital audio on iOS. If so, this should work great. https://support.switcherstudio.com/en/articles/3066145-using-an-audio-mixer-soundboard-with-switcher
